  • Changing Player Positions

I know I have seen some of you talk about switching players like S to CB, a FB to a RB etc. I searched FOF forums and came up with nothing. What do you look for, or how do you know a player would be better playing else where.
    1. FB to RB or vice-versa on these.
    2. T to G or C
    3. DT & DE
    4. ILB & OLB
    5. CB & S

Position changes can be tricky. I haven't done too many successful ones straight out of the draft.

I had one LB that I moved to DE that worked and a RB I moved to WR and cut but went on to have a career in OSFL. I haven't tried too many. As a matter of fact, those might have been the only ones.

Well, there are at least two things going on here:

      1) Is there a penalty from the position switch? This will be applied mostly based on height/weight. I think there is a chart somewhere on FOFC. In any case, when you try to switch the player's position the game will tell you if there is a potential penalty (or in rare cases the chance of a bonus). There is a bit of randomness in this, I think, but not much.

      2) Some positions value certain ratings more than others. For example, for a DT run defense is weighted slightly more than for a DE (and the opposite is true for pass rush tech). So for example a 100 rated run d DE who has not much else can stand to gain in rating if you move him to DT.

I suggest starting a single player game and playing around with position switches. That and finding the thread in FOFC will definitely help. It will also help because sometimes if you weight train a player in training camp you can adjust the modifiers in (1).

Also note that I believe players tend to switch a bit better before or during their first training camp.

You can tell what a player can play based on the experience stats below his bars.

Thanks Nem, I must put in wrong key words when I search for things, can never find anything and what things I have found and were helpful was by total accident.
