I'm definitely not opposed to placing restrictions on the franchise tag. We've kept it so far because people have largely liked having the option.
I was going to say I don't do this personally, but I just remembered that I forgot about that this year and tagged a safety. Going to have to go void that tag now :-)
I know there are leagues out there that skip that sim entirely, which also appeals to me a little because it gets us to the draft quicker. The only other thing to do is tickets. So if someone can tell me how a commish would handle auto-ing the tickets for everybody, I'd definitely say that's at least an interesting idea.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

There are leagues that have the franchise tag but bring in other rules such as 2 year minimum deals through FA 2-12.
No sign and tag is probably a better rule than a 2 yr minimum and has the same effect as Aston wouldn't have to worry about it all FA long.

My take:
I think that Kalispel will regret this signing.
I haven't used the franchise tag very often in FOF7, but I believe that the player will ask for a contract close where the 1st year is around 90% of his franchise tag value. Correct me if I am wrong, but won't the franchise tag value be 45 * 1.2 = $54 million. That means his asking price for year one will be around $48 million and escalating each year after that.
Most of the top LT's in the league make around $20 million per season. I think the vast overpay of $45 million makes him un-tradable, and impossible to franchise tag and re-sign.
I don't think we need to make any rules regarding the franchise tag. I think that salary demands in FOF7 make it impossible to game the system.
