Hey guys,
I was wondering? Who would you consider your team's offensive and defensive MVP's? Who would be your underachievers so far this season? The season is beginning to wind down a bit, and just trying to see who everyone considers their most/least valuable players on offense and defense. MVP doesn't necessarily mean best stats either. I'll start:
Enforcers Offensive MVP to date:
(QB) Myron Allen: Allen was the #1 overall selection in this year's draft and despite a rocky start, Allen has come around to be our most consistent player on the squad and looks to be a force for years to come. Allen started the season throwing below 50%, including 9 interceptions in his first six starts. Since then, Allen has thrown just 1 interception in his last 5 starts, showing the growth and maturity expected from a #1 pick.
Enforcers Offensive MuP to date:
(RB) Brit Toews: Now this is partially unfair to Brit since he is our #1 reciever with 42 catches. However, he has not performed nearly as well as we had expected him to when rushing the ball. With a very pedestrian, 3.18 ypc average, we are not impressed with that aspect of his performance.
Enforcers Defensive MVP to date:
(DE) Sam Barrett: With our switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3 this year, Barrett has been causing havoc in the opponent's backfields all season. Leading the team with 8 sacks, Barrett seems to always be all over the QB, (2nd in league in Hurries, 5th in Knockdowns). With the reinsertion of veteran defensive end, Paul Reid on the other end, look for Barrett to finish the season strong.
Enforcers Defensive MuP to date:
(LB) Lionel Coates: Lionel has been a cry baby since the beginning of the season. Out-played by fellow linebacker, Roger Wahle in preaseason, I gave the two equal amounts of PT to start the season. On the field, Lionel has not performed at all, ge and has lividly displayed his disagreement with his play time. I have niether the time or patience for such antics here in North Liberty, so I have subsequently(barring injury to anyone) moved Lionel to the bench for the remainder of the season.
Anyone wanna join in?
