  • TEAM MVP's

    Hey guys,

I was wondering? Who would you consider your team's offensive and defensive MVP's? Who would be your underachievers so far this season? The season is beginning to wind down a bit, and just trying to see who everyone considers their most/least valuable players on offense and defense. MVP doesn't necessarily mean best stats either. I'll start:

    Enforcers Offensive MVP to date:

(QB) Myron Allen: Allen was the #1 overall selection in this year's draft and despite a rocky start, Allen has come around to be our most consistent player on the squad and looks to be a force for years to come. Allen started the season throwing below 50%, including 9 interceptions in his first six starts. Since then, Allen has thrown just 1 interception in his last 5 starts, showing the growth and maturity expected from a #1 pick.

    Enforcers Offensive MuP to date:

(RB) Brit Toews: Now this is partially unfair to Brit since he is our #1 reciever with 42 catches. However, he has not performed nearly as well as we had expected him to when rushing the ball. With a very pedestrian, 3.18 ypc average, we are not impressed with that aspect of his performance.

    Enforcers Defensive MVP to date:

(DE) Sam Barrett: With our switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3 this year, Barrett has been causing havoc in the opponent's backfields all season. Leading the team with 8 sacks, Barrett seems to always be all over the QB, (2nd in league in Hurries, 5th in Knockdowns). With the reinsertion of veteran defensive end, Paul Reid on the other end, look for Barrett to finish the season strong.

    Enforcers Defensive MuP to date:

(LB) Lionel Coates: Lionel has been a cry baby since the beginning of the season. Out-played by fellow linebacker, Roger Wahle in preaseason, I gave the two equal amounts of PT to start the season. On the field, Lionel has not performed at all, ge and has lividly displayed his disagreement with his play time. I have niether the time or patience for such antics here in North Liberty, so I have subsequently(barring injury to anyone) moved Lionel to the bench for the remainder of the season.

    Anyone wanna join in?

Our defense as a whole has been our defensive MVP. We lead the league in turnover margin, and no one player really stands out. Maybe Cochrane? (I don't have teh game in front of me right now, haha). Offensive MVP has to go to our young QB, Dusty Galloway. He has really taken control of the offense this season. Cote is a close second. Hopefully these two will help carry this offense for years and years to come.

        Los Alamos Monsters

Offensive MVP: The Suprising QUENTIN KIRK. This starting FL has improved his reception percentage by 10% from last year. Also, after 11 games this year he already has as many TD receptions as all of 1985. Additionally, last season Kirk had 10 drops, so far this year, he's only had 2.

Defensive MVP: The currently injured SS WAYNE TANKERSLEY. Through 10 starts he's notched 82 tackles and looks to improve on every statistic from last season.

Offensive MUP: C CHRIS PRESCOTT who's KRB% has dropped from 36.9 to 25

Defensive MUP: The suspended RDE GRANT FRANKLIN.

Offensive MVP: Has to be QB Jumbo Clements- Now that the offense can open up with him at the helm, we have flourished this season, and he has been worth every penny of his 13 million dollar salary. He has also shown strong evidence that last year was just a bad year for him, playing amongst the best QB's in the league thus far with a 91.8 rating.

Defensive MVP: Possibly a candidate for MVP of the league, OLB Otis Vaughn has been one of the best linebackers I've ever seen this season. He has 63 tackles, 25 assists, 17 sacks, 3 blocks, 19 hurries, 39 QB knockdowns and 4 fumbles forced. He is single-handedly accounting for most of our defensive improvement over last season.

Offensive MVP: RB Wally Garner. Almost 1,000 yards of total offense, 4.25 ypc, but only three touchdowns.

Offensive MUP: My entire offensive line. Not only is every players blocking % down, but their sacks are way, way up.

Defensive MVP: DT Rob Prescott. 10 sacks, 48 tackles, 15 assists, 2 blk, 2 hurries, 2 knockdowns, 1 pass defense.

Defensive MUP: My corners. Between my two starters, one interception.

Offensive MVP: WR Harvey Inoue: He became a recievers leader on and off the field this year. He currently leads the OSFL in receiving yards and catches. He has been the most consistant player on the field for the Gaels.

Defensive MVP: DE Broderick Cherbet: The Gaels signed DE Jason Horne as insurance in case Chrebet didnt live up to potential but Horne has bearely played a down. Cherbet has become a domiant DE in his second season. 41 tackles and 10.5 sacks have shown the league that he will be a threat the next few years.

Most Unvaluable Player...Although I really thought you'd get that from the context of the above messages (insert 'wink' smilie here).

                      You're slipping Sergeant.
