So there you have it folks, ratings...not so much.
That doesn't mean ratings dont matter much. That says that the game doesnt show you what every player does on every play. For example the game will tell me if my DE put pressure on the QB but it doesnt tell me if my CB was burnt on the play. The design decision he is referring to is the fact that the play by play doesn't reference the performance of players not involved with the play.

I THINK that there are too many people trying to second guess the game. Perhaps it's because Madden and other sports based sims have hidden cheat codes. I like the game as it is, I'm not interested in running a sp league to get tendencies within the game, real or anecdotal. I gameplan from a g.m. and coaches perspective, do a lot of it on gut instinct and football knowledge, and go from there.
Take last game against St. Paul Bandits. . .I gameplanned what I wanted to do, and offensively and defensively the team did what I wanted. I just didn't foresee three fumbles that accounted for St. Paul's early lead. Now that's part of the real game. . . what coach plans on fumbles and players dropping passes? None that I know. So it is in life. . .the unexpected pops up and gives you a new challenge.
Ratings are guidlines as are the compatability factor, Solecismic Test scores, personality traits, and scout negotiation tendencies. . . it should all add up to something you the individual g.m. are comfortable with. . .
I feel that I've had players who's actual ratings are say 20 and potential ratings are 50 plus, and they've performed consistently and every now and then they'll have a boom game and every now and then they'll bust. . . sounds like a young player after all.
I understand that some g.m.'s are frustrated while learning the game. In my first outing in the DFL, I took my lumps early on and lost a lot of games that I don't think I'd lose today. It's the learning process, the curve if you will.
Hang in there. The game is what it is. . .fun. Be patient. Not everyone can win immediately in a league or FOF world as competitive as it is.

My point was that in 6e the coverage abilities of your MLB, SLB, and nickle and dime back are more important than in 6d when you could make do with four good DB. Ratings matter as much last season as they did this season.

That's all I've been trying to point out and I don't really care if some people want to throw juvenile insults at me for trying to explain it (and I admit that my timing and delivery of my point is highly lacking at times) because some people will hopefully take whatever I'm saying and maybe get something out of it. I don't know, maybe, maybe not, and as of now, I don't care anymore.

Like Hoosier just said there's a learning process, and that's part of the fun for some of us.

Cotton. . .you do care and you know it. You're a good man, and a good friend, and a great g.m. It does get frustrating to hear a lot of the complaints and it does take a bit off of the game and the fun. I've had to learn that the hard way. I've inadvertently taken the fun from some people with my own early rants and it ain't worth the damage to one's reputation. No matter the medical condition, the waking up on the bad side of the bed syndrome, or the time spent between getting laid.

I understand your gameplanning tutorial. I've done it myself. When I'm faced with a good defensive backfield--Wichita in the DFL for instance--then I go after the linebacking corp with dinks, dunks, and screen passes. I use the tight end more because of the mismatch. It's only common sense. Despite the damn good DB of Wichita, I racked up over 400 yards offense, and only 89 yards of it on the ground.

So, I understand the point you're trying to make and don't understand the extracurricular stuff. The only way to rationalize it is to say . . .the impetuousness of youth.

Yeah. The timing and delivery of my attempt to make a point or 'help out' was piss poor. I admit it and apologized for that. I know exactly what you mean. You're spot on. Thanks.

tell me about it. Same sh%t as last year. I need to put him out to pasture. At least we pulled it out in OT.
Deserved win Morgantown, tough break with the QB, your back up was big in overtime for you.
