  • LDE to RDE

I was planning on switching Perea from LDE to RDE, because Football 101 says your stud passrusher should be on the QB's blindside, but I don't even have the option to do it. Because of his light weight (i assume), I can only switch him to LB. Is this why you would tell him to gain weight? He already has plenty of strength, and I wouldn't want to sacrifice any of his agility, because I NEED him to get to the QB.

Can anyone help me understand how this works or what I should do? Also, do you think I could just play him at OLB in certain sets (maybe on the goalline?) or will he not have that skillset?

Unless you switch him to LB you won't know how good his skillsets are. You can be reasonably assured he'll be able to rush the passer and defend the run, but his coverage bars could be zeros.

    What's his current weight?

Yeah, it'll be because of his weight. Given that he is such a lightweight, the option to gain weight probably isn't even there. He'll just have to be a LDE. On the other hand, as he gains experience at RDE, he can probably be played at either position interchangeably. Just, as a LDE he will gain experience at RDE a lot more slowly. You could also play him as OLB, although there would be more penalties and he'd also have a lot less experience there...
