  • Week SEVEN Bulletin Board Fodder

Week 7 finds the Monsters traveling 1,033 miles almost due east for a match-up against the Memphis Admirals.

In a scheduling quirk, this game pits the leagues most potent offense:
    • MEMPHIS: 25.66 PPG

against the leagues second most effective (Camden being first at 7.66 ppg allowed) scoring defense:
    • LOS ALAMOS: 7.8 PPG ALLOWED

Memphis QB Dusty Cowell, on pace for a 4,000 yard passing season, currently leads the league in passing with a QB Rating of 110.4! Conversely, Los Alamos' QB Adrian Hermon comes in slightly above the Kordoza line at 81.1.

Last week, the Monsters faced the leagues most prolific runner this season (Skip Aleg: 759 yds). This week, we get to face off against the second most prolific in Kenyon Heflin, who himself is looking at a 1,500+ yard season. Our own RB Henry Harrell comes in 10 spots below Heflin in total rushing yards this season.

In the 'chicken or the egg' catagory, the beneficiaries of Dusty Cowell's aerial strikes are two of the top seven WR at this point in the season: Lawrence Ingram and Kendall Watanabe. As the saying goes, if the left one don't get you, the right one will. Los Alamos' top recieving threat, Quentin Kirk, has yet to catch a TD pass this season.

As is that weren't enough, Memphis' K Tracy Saathoff has yet to miss in 16 tries. The Monsters' Brandon Liersch missed his first of the season last week against Waco, grazing the right post and pushing the ball just wide from 43 yards.

In the words of Lou Holtz: "We're totally committed to defence. I'm not sure our defence is committed to defence, but the rest of our team is."

Good stuff, Wessin. My defense has been struggling for most of the year, though they've put in a good effort the past two weeks. I'm sure it'll be a great game.

Hmmm, you're interest in someone other than the Riders beating me leads me to believe that you may be admitting to the weak spots in Phoenix' roster/gameplan and don't feel you can single handedly keep me (and the division) at bay any longer. Interesting.
