  • Coaches [reference]

I know this is little early to ask, but I am already evaluating my coaching staff. If I remember correct last hiring period you ranked skills 1-9 I thought. However looking at my HC there is only 8 skills listed. Question 1: Lets say I want Intelligence as my coaches highest skill followed by play calling, player development and say young talent is last on list would I put it
    1. Intelligence
    2. Play Calling
    3. Player Dev.
    8. Young Talent?

Question 2: In NFL play calling is done by HC on some teams, while OC & DC call plays on other teams. In FOF7 which of the coaches make the play calls? Reason I ask this is cause I want play calling & Intelligence high for who ever calls the plays, and then who does not call I'd prefer that player development be higher.

Question 3: Young Talent, I assume this means how good a coach is at getting rookies & 2nd year players to reach their peak performance as quickly as possible kind of like player dev. Is this correct?

Thanks for helping me get deeper understanding of game.

Intelligence is not useful in this version yet... It is say that is going to be important in the next FOF.. So forget about intelligence for now

ira, I'd say a quick search on FOFC would've turned the answers up rather quickly.

        1. Intelligence Ignore this. Not used.
        2. Play Calling
        3. Player Dev.
        8. Young Talent?

I've found out that play calling is the effectiveness of plays called...NOT which plays are called. So the better your OC or DC is at play calling, the more success you will have when running plays.

I have no idea what the difference between "young talent" and "development" is.

I always assumed, maybe incorrectly, that Young Talent meant how much the coach can get from a young guy who isn't fully developed, whereas development is how quickly the coach can fully develop a player.

I guess is how they perform vs quick they reach the complete ratings.

At least we have really good performance by our youngers since we changed our coaches and focused in Young Talent or Scouting bar.

Oh! Thanks for the info. Seems like YT is very important, then, compared to development.

FOFC never came to a conclusion about that. I'm not sure anyone has bothered testing yet to figure it out.

Btw, Interview on coaches does influence how you see bars, not just Scouting.

Yeah. My understanding is that interview ability determines how wide the bars of draft prospects are. Whether it plays a role in how accurate the interviews are also seems to be speculation. The HC probably has a hand in all players and your coordinators specific to their side of the ball.

Scouting then is more about how accurate the bars are -- accurate as in how likely it is that you're seeing totally lying bars, NOT in the sense of how narrow they are. So a bad scout with high interview might see narrow bars, but they're way off.

I am glad I asked the question, after reading what everyone has posted it is going to help me in deciding future coaches.

Someone gave me the thought one day that young talent had an effect on rookie booms/busts. Along the same lines player development was for random booms/busts outside the rookie year. No definite conclusions just two guys having random thoughts.

I am not sure you can make any conclusions because you changed your coach and X happened differently. Too small of a sample size.

Speaking of interviews: is there a way to increase the number of interviews everyone has? Is that a league setting or is it fixed? To me it seems ridiculous how few interviews you get during the scouting process considering that some of them may be off.
