  • Game Plans

I notice my game plans don't seem to be going as I plan. Example: This last game against Pearl Harbor I had for 1st & 10 to run 71% of time. In the game I ran 9 times and passed or attempted to pass 25 times. This was appox only 35% running. Does your coaches just change things way they want?

Some of it is your coaches and the die rolls, but it could be that you were behind and so the percentages got pushed.

For instance, when behind you have the whatever screen (I hate this screen and can't remember its name) to be 25% more pass when playing from behind. This would knock your 71% run to 49%, which makes it much easier to have the die roll end up being a pass.

I know what I just said is uber confusing, which is why everyone everywhere suggests that gameplanning be the last thing someone digs into.

I noticed you came out a lot in 5 wide formations, which seems kind of strange. Eight times in one game seems really odd to me. You were throwing from 5 wide on the second play of your first series. Something isn't right in your gameplan somewhere.

Solution: Try using Smash Mouth gameplan - http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=82437

OK, Will try the smash mouth. Also that does make sense what you said about playing from behind, as I have been behind most all games. Thanks for the help.

71% seems really, really high for 1st & 10. I'm not sure that's a good idea anyway :-P But it does sound like adjustments kick in. I don't think I've ever gone above 60 for 1st & 10, and part of that is because anything over 60 means you use your "Running Formations" rather than your "Slight Running Formations", and I want to stand a chance passing.

I've definitely gone above 60 on first down, you just need to be kitted out for it: stud RB, stud OL (at run block). That'll get you the 4 yds you're looking for and not the 1 or -1 you want to avoid.

Smash Mouth is all about bleeding an opponent. It's how I like to beat pass happy teams in the past.

It's basically what New England does to Indy: keep the ball out of Andrew Luck's hands by running it, taking up time and not turning the ball over.
