We went up against Washington week 1. Anchorage played an all-around good game, the running game was working, the passing game was working, we did turn the ball over twice, and we had 7 FG attempts, making 5 of them. We must get TD's instead of FG's moving forward, very fortunate to come out of this game with a 22-17 win.
We sat Mallory, to reduce his chances for reinjury. We also had our first pick of this draft, OLB Wilkins, inactive for this game. Stats-wise, we did OK. Held time of possession, gained more yardage, did better on 1st down... but in scoring, we lost the game thanks to an interception, which is unusual for Prescott and why we like him so much as our starting QB even with his average rating.
I did mess up several things when setting up our strategy for the week, but we still played well. I'm hoping to see up to 10 wins if we keep playing well and reduce our turnovers. Unfortunately, Prescott is now dealing with some knee issues so that may cause some further problems with our passing game.

We got the W despite strong efforts from several former Warhawks:
LG Johnnie Heatherly (2 key run blocks)
DT Richie Baxter (1 tackle, 1 sack and 2 knockdowns)
CB Brock Vamos (3 tackles and 1 assist)
OLB Marc Bierria (1 tackle, 2 assists and 1 special teams tackle)
Our SS Terrell Donovan made a key tackle on RB Terry "The Lock" Ness on 3rd down and 2 with under 5 minutes to go and we owe our victory to him.
GG Irish. Not a good start to the year for us, the way we played. SMD deserved to win the game, even without Mallory. Fortunately, a couple of CBs saved the day. Not a pretty way to win, but we'll take any W.
rough game 1st quarter we were called for 6 penalties for 40 yards in the 1ST QUARTER the makeshift line held up (mostly) while Huggy bear is on the mend. Big news Sammy is out for a month or so looks like its Disco Donnie Monroe time to shine he stepped in and promptly threw his 1st career TD to seal the win
GG Anchorage. I screwed around last night and had to Rex the entire game plan to have something in today. No bueno. I have no idea why Rex like the short passing so much with the Vodka at the helm.
GG Rob. It seemed like every time we got some momentum going we gave up a sack. Waco's defense definitely frustrated us today and put in a solid effort. We kept it close, but couldn't ever put it together enough to catch up.
We started as we finished last year, winning showing a great D and competent O... Grauman 's rules.... More than 200 yards and multiple scores rushing and receiving! Who said old??

On the first play of the game, Shannon Fulton ties the all time interception record at 61. He also adds to his already massive pick six record with his 20th TD. Then in the 2nd quarter, Fulton breaks the record with his 2nd pick of the day and is not the leagues all time interception leader with 62 picks. So glad he got this out of the way early and did it at home. No better way to open the season. On top of it all, the team won the game.
Downside, Fulton strained a calf muscle, so now that the record is his, we'll be resting him for a few weeks.
