It's a shame that Port City took that TE. I was thinking he'd combine perfectly with my two good WRs and RB to make a very good set of offensive skill players.
Since I couldn't make a trade for a good SLB, I'll probably end up taking Wilkins and moving him to SLB.GM of the South Maryland Maulers 2034-2040

In this case it was the #4 ranked DE who doesn't look fantastic based on his bars. I'm good with that.Columbus Catfish (2020-2030 & 2036-2038)

AI will always take the highest ranked player on the board for vacant teams or teams that have no list set. That DE, while not even the best DE in the draft, was ranked as the BPA, so he went.
Now...I have seen a study where the players ranking is a tell into how good that player may be. Even if his combines and bars don't look great. The game does know something. So I'd keep my eye on this guy. he may be very good down the road.
Doing a quick check at past players with similar combines, this guy could be in the mid 70's once developed. So that's not bad if you ask me.OSFL

I basically look at bars, then look at combines to see if the combines back up what the bars are telling me.
For example, if I see a high BPR bar on a WR, then look at his 40 and see it is green, I'm not going to take the guy, because I can't really believe the bar is going to remain so high.
Late in the draft, I do the reverse... look for guys with good combines, ignoring the bars, in the hope that maybe their bars will get better based on their combines. The problem with this strategy is that you have to wait until their rookie contract ends to really give them a chance to show if they are going to be good or not.GM of the South Maryland Maulers 2034-2040

The opposite can be said of the other WR. His 40 bar should be close to maxed given his combine but it is not.
