And if you're confused about anything, ask a friend!

Draft Utility. If you don't by Monday, your team will be placed on autopick.
As of right now, Dutch would be auto picked. Time to send out some PMs.

When's the Auto take place? Are we starting at 8 AM?

I started and stopped the draft. I attempted to put Dutch on a 14 hour timer, but it didn't work and the draft auto picked. Rolled it back.

I've reached out to Dutch. It's an incredible shame to autopick someone with the 1.1, so that decision is clearly up to Aston.

Looking at his profile, he was active on the forum today.

That being said, rules are rules. If we make a rule then start making exceptions, it creates an uncertain, and IMO, unfair situation. The schedule was posted on February 27th. Dutch posted on the trade block March 3. Today is March 9. He had 6 days to sign up IF he didn't see the post on 2/27. A week and a half total to sign up and be prepared to pick.

Now, maybe we shouldn't have anyone set to autopick during the 14 hour windows. That's another question and I think his time should have started and he should have 14 hours to sign up and get a pick in. But his clock SHOULD have officially started. The idea to autopick a team is to keep the draft moving, and I think is useful when we are doing a round or more of picks in one day. Right now, things are set to go slow for a reason, and I think setting someone to autopick does not mesh with the idea of the rules in place.

My opinion is the rules should be consistently followed, otherwise we just shouldn't have rules. We can't suspend rules for any reason, this makes rules pointless.

When someone isn't registered you can't turn the draft on the 14 hour clock because it will auto pick anyone not registered.

So, I can't turn the draft on until he registers or his 14 hours are up.

Why not take him off auto and turn the 14 hour clock on? This then gives him A: 14 hours to register and make a pick or B: times him out at 14 hours and he gets autoed and we move on.

            Instead of waiting indefinitely.

You can't, as far as I know. Until someone registers for the team, they are set to autopick.

But we can count 14 hours from 8 am and then have the draft autopick. It's not as if we need the clock running. We can do this! We're adults!

Edit: The only thing I'm waiting on is Aston to show up.

I agree. Maybe next time the rule should be "By Monday of the Live Draft" (e.g, March 16).

Right now I see Dutch as registered, and there are 3 other teams who aren't yet (POR and KAL are open). He can't make the pick, but PMd me his choice. So the Stingrays will go with that when I start up the draft.

                  Sorry for the delay/confusion everybody.

                    Obvious pick is obvious!

                    Glad we're rolling.

Mad scramble on my end. Forgot the Register rule. I did PM my pick to Aston if there were issues.

I don't recall ever picking a CB with the first overall...but he was so studly, I couldn't bear the thought of another man with my first pick. :)

Does the draft usually go pretty quick or is this a league of wheeling and dealing?

That didn't go how I thought! I thought at least one of the WRs would have gone by now. Good thing I interviewed them in the latest file.

I want to see the latest file tonight so my pick won't be before 6 pm EST and probably even a bit later than that.

You're free to wheel & deal as you like. Hard to predict how much or how little of that will happen in a given draft.

The first week here is the "slow period" of the draft -- teams are given 14 hours to pick. This is just to allow (hopefully) most or all of Round 1 to be completed at a pace that allows people to make manual selections.

The second week picks up. The rest of the draft will run on a more regimented schedule, with the (much shorter) timers only active during the day from 11 AM EST to 10 PM EST. This is how the bulk of the draft is done. So during this time, either check in often or have a queue set up of players.
