  • My Drafting get ready to laugh.

I have been playing this game non stop for 5 days appox now, maybe 6. This is just about how every draft goes for me, about 25% of time my 1st rd pick will be mid 80's. Anyways I just got done drafting again in my game against comp. I had the very 1st pick. Results:

    1st WR 42/66
    2nd LT 20/46
    3rd QB 12/33
    4th NT 21/38
    5th RB 19/23
    6th LDE 18/31
    7th LCB 12/25

I am going to be in the cellar for a while, till I figure out what I am doing wrong. I interview people with red and blue combines. Look at scouting bars, and the red bar thing with number. Thinking all time I am going get me a winner lmao. Anybody else have luck like this?

It's a crapshoot. It takes a long, long time to get a good feel for drafting. It is basically the hardest part of the game. It's also the best part of the game.

+1 I love drafting but I made a lot mistakes too...

You can check the amateur draft place in the game and check the draft through the years and how the players are now

Use draft analyzer. Choose combine over bars. Realize good picks will climb over time so don't judge them immediately.

Yeah, my last couple of MP drafts have not been great. I don't think it's that bad necessarily. In the CFL I got a WR in the 2nd round who is probably 45/45, so that's good. 3rd round RB is 30/30 if he's lucky. Ditto for 4th round DT. Later picks got either cut or have similar ceilings.

Having a bad scout is pretty rough. Boston's done alright in my two drafts here, but I did have to cut my 2nd round pick this year outright. I feel like if you can get a useful 35/35 guy, sometimes that's a win.

You need to stop leaning on your bad scout and switch to a more combine-focused draft process.

I tend to split the difference and lean more towards combines, which is how I end up with a lot of useful but not great players. They're usually cheaper to keep around than studs. :P

Thanks for the info guys. I have been trying today doing the combine only and then useing the scouting to break ties. TY for the tip, having lot's of 60's now 1st and 2nd rd. Appreciate it.

Combine-only isn't a surefire way, but I find it less disastrous than going on bars alone. Understanding how combines and bars go together is the crux of drafting, so I find you need that combine knowledge as a general basis.

The game also has some randomness thrown in, so even when you draft perfectly you can still get a bust. That's why the game has legs and we keep playing over and over and over again.

And remember that you are not drafting alone like in SP now... Particularly this league is pretty good drafting so... Just a tip :)

My thoughts on drafting FWIW......if your scouts are really good, go heavy on bars. If they are not, go heavy on combines. If your scouts are average, then lean more towards combines. If the bars match the combines, you've got a guy there.

I can say with certainty drafting is harder in the new version.

That said, as far as I can tell the main principles are true. You cannot either be a fixed bar or combine drafter to be great at drafting. Both bars and combines lie. You have to take all the information and weigh it accordingly.

I agree that having the best scouts possible is important but even then you have to weigh the bars with the combines.
