  • Cap trouble; and, new Lake County owner pizzaddict!

Just took over the Lake County Xtreme. I guess I should have researched the financials first, we are 50 MILLION over the cap for next year already. How does that even happen? Should be a fun challenge to get the financials back in order and rebuild.

That's the AI for ya. Talk to BradZ about how that is in your first year!

The way they do it is players have high salaries, and then AI teams seem to be fond of using the cap out option year after year. The cap out takes the current year salary down to the minimum, and spreads the difference out over all the years of the contract in the form of bonus, which never comes off the sheets. So you can imagine, that adds up pretty quickly. Generally would not advise doing this.

May as well make this your welcome thread, then! Pizza will indeed be taking over the Lake County Extreme. Let's give him a warm welcome everyone. Like the other teams, they will have interesting financial challenges right off the bat!

That is exactly what they did with my starting QB. He is making 54mil this year and next. Unfortunately it is all in bonus so I won't be cutting him for a while. Guess I just deal with it for a few seasons.

Welcome to the division. So does this mean you'll be supplying the pizza to all the divisional games we play? It's customary that the new guy buys dinner the night before the game. Just sayin'

I went through the rules and didn't see this posted anywhere. I'm only addicted to eating pizza, not supplying pizza.

Besides, I'm spending 50+ million on my QB the next few years. I can't afford to buy pizza anyway.

It's a division rule. You won't find it in the "official" rules. Plus, I just made it up, so...........

I'll let you slide this one time because of your cap situation, but as soon as I see that in the plus, I expect pizza.

Ok so I've never been in the situation of being way over the cap. What happens in free agency? I'm guessing the game will only let me sign players at league minimum to fill out my roster?

I believe the game will force cut players and sign minimum salary players.

You'll also lose draft picks. Which blows because it isn't your fault.

I wouldn't worry about it until the next season rolls around and you can see who will save you money through cutting/trading.

I'd recommend trading just about all your vets, though I haven't looked at your team and what salaries you're tied into.
