I think the draft has gone slow because of emails and texts not working until a couple days ago.

There are definitely tweaks to be made, but I've yet to see a draft where everyone was happy and if we go that route we're going to be changing our rules every draft until no one knows what in the hell is going on.

Only 30, for accuracy sake! No issues here at all. Round 5 went by almost too fast yesterday, and we should be well on track today.

Actually, we've been on track for most of the draft, so maybe there's something up with the schedule if it feels too draggy:

Slow Roll: ~20 picks made
Round 1: Finished at 3:30PM Wed (having started around the 1.20s)
Round 2: Finished at 9:30 PM
Round 3: Didn't finish, but it almost did -- we were at 3.31 at 11PM
Round 4: Finished at 9:30 PM
Round 5: Finished at 3:30 PM, leaving the rest of the day blank

If we keep this up, we'll probably finish both Rounds 6 and 7 today, as scheduled.

The first 3 rounds are the ones that make a difference to me. And, again, the fact that AI picks are not immediate is a big issue (25 minutes * 6 picks). Add to this the fact that, the later in the draft you pick, the more likely you will be on time to make your pick... so the draft dragged quite a bit in the early and mostly the middle of the rounds. If you post what time each pick was made, you'll see what I mean. The players who are usually in the playoffs are also the ones who are usually here to make their picks or have a list set. ;)

Round 1 worked well because of the slow roll. We were into round 2 on Wednesday, but didn't finish until 9:30 on Thursday. That's more than a day of working on round 2.

NAFL. There are never complaints there about the draft. It runs a week. Day one: RD1, picks 1-16. Day two: RD1 picks 17-32. Then a round a day with pick times being 2hrs for rds 2-4. 1 hr rd 5. 30 minutes, rds 6,7. The biggest difference there....everyone is invested and pays attention. Guys rarely miss picks. It's a very active league.

The problem comes when people don't pay attention. Maybe a mass email a day or two prior to the draft as a reminder. Guys that don't make the playoffs, in most cases, check out. Don't look at the site. Lose track of time. So an email to let everyone know..."Hey, draft is starting. Get in there and be ready." may work.

I'm set at 55 minutes right now, as I have to drop my daughter off at school and go do some shopping. I expect to be back before my turn (with the way things are going in this draft), but if not at least my pick will be my own and not a scout pick.

Man I just spent 20 minutes moving guys around my priority list and then the utility just reset. Now I can't even load it up.

Is there a way to save that progress?

The utility reset? I'm not sure how that happens. The order should be saving as you move guys around, though.

Irish, as mentioned, the AI teams aren't on 25 minute timers. I don't know why they're showing that way. They should be firing automatically.

The NAFL setup does sound pretty neat, but Round 5 would've played out the same way, saw: 1 hour clock, and it would've finished early in the day and halted progress. I've become a little skeptical of the slow roll but if there's not much impetus to change it, we'll keep it.

I've had it happen when moving someone up on the list using the Move Up button.

This is the first time I recall having this issue.

Edit: Unable to replicate the issue at GML, but it's also not happening here either. I may have been on my phone when it was happening before. Let's try that.

This sounds to me like a connection issue. You are arranging things on your local copy, but the connection is out or something, and when your connection comes back and it refreshes, you see what you had previously... because it never got changed due to connectivity issues.

My list hasn't been touched for a couple of rounds now. It usually starts going fast in round 7. Probably because I have a habit of targeting 7th round quality talent.

With our 6th round pick we go for a tackle, which is a position of some need. Guy looks like he might be a solid pass blocker. We have one or two promising bodies here, but they're young and can't be sure what they are yet, so some extra competition can't hurt.

My 5th round pick, offensive tackle Mitch Gitler, is rated 22/73. I foresee a long, long fall for him. I hope he doesn't die on the way down!

Other notables who will likely take a bit of a dive... 1st round pick McCreadie is looking good at 20/73 and 2nd round pick Springer at 22/62.

Feels so good having 3 great looking draft picks (plus 3rd round FB Joe Swift at 28/51). At the same time, I feel the dread of waiting for the nose dives to happen.

I was taking a hard look at Gitler, Irish! Along with a few other of your picks. What gave me pause was that tackle I took in the 2nd round in the CFL who started really high and tumbled down to about 15 overall. Just watch Gitler end up being amazing, though!
