In week 1, we did a good job of reining in South Maryland's star receiver with our double coverage, and this time we'll have our own star safety Howie Laflamme back, to boot. Unfortunately, we did a not-so-good job of scoring more than 0 points...
QB Austin Cash will get the nod this week, trying to pull down his first win of the year for the team, which is 3-4 overall and surprisingly only one game back to 4-3 Brooklyn. GL IrishGuy.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

UGH!! That was a killer. Going in for the winning score on the last play of the game and Morton throws a 97 yard pick six to seal the win for Portland. The rookie is really going through growing pains. He had 4 INT's this game. That's 16 now so far on the season. Nothing like learning to swim by jumping in the deep end.OSFL

Howie Laflamme, you kiddin' me, man? Boston's best player on either side of the ball was sidelined during the preseason. He made his regular season debut and lasted 17 plays before being knocked out for a few more games. He returned to full health this week and played half the game before getting a serious 18-week injury. At year 11, franchise tag -- that could be lights out. Can't stay healthy!
Boston pulled out the win this week. GG, IrishGuy. Floyd Mallory looks every bit the deserving 1.1 pick, but it seems like with nobody to take the pressure off him on the other side, he can't do much damage on his own. We took him away with double coverage again, and he's had a really poor year, not even leading his team in Target %. Which, given his RR ability, suggests other teams are also double covering him.
We had our first game of the year with over 3.0 YPC on the ground. Actually, we smashed that barrier by getting 9.0, but only because we didn't run a lot, and 3rd-round rookie Stan Parris somehow notched an 86-yard TD run (to go with a 54-yard TD catch!) QB Austin Cash got his first win of the year, and had a good day throwing, but took six sacks. That's not what we want to see.
At one point it looked like we would be 2-5, but we've improbably pulled to 4.4 and a even .500. That's the good news, but it looks like division title or bust in the Nasty Conference, and Brooklyn is going to be tough to overcome. They're rounding into form.
Side note, I completely forgot to process my own roster request this week and we got part of our depth autoed. oops!Last edited by Aston; 08-18-2014, 12:31 PM.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

San Francisco 21
Charlotte 30
Another solid showing from the defensive unit. Compton had 9 hurries, 5 knockdowns, and 1.5 sacks. Schulz with 2 more INTs. Wilder had another good game on the ground and we sit a top the NC South for another week.:Charlotte Sentinels: :GM::Circa 2030:

GG Nutah. Another 3 point loss. Think I can go 2-14 and have scored more points than I have given up? Amazing!
I feel like we are so close yet so far away. Sorry about Laflamme, we didn't mean to hurt him.
As for Mallory, we made a couple of trade offers, without any getting serious, unfortunately. You are correct, with him double and triple teamed, it's hard to get him the ball.
While I like our defensive scheme, we do tend to give up a few big plays. Overall, our defense is pretty good, but those big plays and lack of a big time receiving duo hurts us. Add to that a really poor ST squad (kicker notwithstanding, of course), and we have many holes to plug. Surprised we are still playing close games with everyone with so many weaknesses. I contribute it to great gameplanning(or more likely, a lot of luck!).
