  • 2034 Preseason Discussion

Well, the Irish conclude a hapless preseason having been outscored 81-16. This latest debacle saw rookie Kayden Esquivel QB the entire game and throw four interceptions.

Boston's roster is rated in the bottom fifth of the league, but we've been too busy turning it over to pay much mind to the actual exhibition games. The season starts for real on Wednesday and most of the veteran talent will be brought to bear against South Maryland, minus (perhaps crucially) Howie Laflamme and Travis Christen.

Reminder on the short turnaround as we adjust back to a M-W-F schedule, guys. Next sim is bright & early tomorrow morning (Monday), and it's a midweek.

Roster rating means nothing to me, imho. The game has never been all that approving of my rosters, but I still manage to do well anyway.

I never put too much stock in preseason. Sometimes I test out new gameplans in them but that's about it.

Good thing too because IIRC we got stomped in our last two preseason games.

We had escaped preseason with minor injures up until our last game. Recent free agent addition and starting running back TJ Barlow has be lost for 6 weeks with a broken wrist. We now had to sign former San Fran 7th rounder Willie Bates as our new backup with Adam Garibaldi starting the season as our #1 tailback.

Preseason injuries were very harsh this year, and I forgot to turn it down for EX5, sorry about that.

In the future, we'll go daily sims from M-F with injuries at 30. Regular season will be at 100, which seems like a new standard for FOF7 (where 130 was more typical in 2k7, I believe).

Sounds good. I would like to see preseason injures either off or as low as possible (whatever the majority wants). I have 16 other games to worry about injuries.

              I'm for realism.

I don't think turning them off should be an option. Even for preseason..

We managed to make it through preseason with only one significant injury, or as significant as a backup DT on a 3-4 team can be. I'd prefer the leave the injuries intact, but then again I usually count on other team's injuries to bring them down to our level. Heck, I think the only times I've beaten Brooklyn in the last 4 or 5 years were in games where Van Meier was hurt. (he's not this week, we're toast)

I'm of a mind to blow through preseason in two.sims and injuries off. I honestly don't think it tells you much of anything. Perhaps if there were preseason stats that were kept and sortable in-game then it might be useful, but in the current game it just seems to hurt people and get rid of rust.

Throw the preseason away, have more real Sims. ;)

I get that we turn down injuries overall, but I'm very much against adjusting injuries just for preseason. That is what limiting starter minutes is for. Players get hurt in preseason all the time.
