  • 2007 Offseason Schedule and Offseason News Thread

    Hi Everyone,

This is the tentative 2008 offseason schedule. The reason why its tentative is because we may delay the offseason if we are unable to fill the open owner positions before this weekend. I'm pretty much using the same schedule Skerik used last offseason. If there are any changes to the schedule, I will post it in this thread. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sims will be running almost daily beginning this Sunday, with an occasional weekend break as noted on the schedule.

Sims will run at approximately 9pm EST each night. Also, the download link for each zip file will be included in each sim posting, with the file name including the date. This will ensure that nobody gets mixed up along the way and everyone knows exactly what they're downloading.

Sun Stadium Plan/Staff Hiring, Phase 1
    Mon Staff Hiring, Phase 2
    Tues Staff Hiring, Phase 3
Wed Ticket Pricing/Franchise Tag/Summer League (Draft Class Revealed)
Thurs Round 1 of FA-1 (JUST Renegotiations)
    Fri/Sat OFF

    9/16 Sun Round 2 of FA-1
    9/17 Tue Round 3 of FA-1
    9/18 Wed Round 4 of FA-1
    9/19 Thu Round 5 of FA-1
9/20 Fri Round 6 of FA-1 (Last chance for Draft Interviews) - Amateur Draft begins 10am EST Saturday (9/22)
    9/23 Sat Ammy Draft Continues
    9/24 Sun Ammy Draft Continues
9/25 Mon Round 7 of FA-1 - Ammy Draft Continues
9/26 Wed Round 8 of FA-1 - Ammy Draft Ends
    9/27 Thu Round 9 of FA-1
    9/30 Fri Round 10, 11 & 12 of FA-1

At this point the draft is over and the drafted players are now all officially on their teams. During FA-2, you can negotiate with your drafted rookies as well as sign undrafted rookie FAs.

    10/1 Sun Round 1 of FA-2
    10/2 Mon Round 2 of FA-2
    10/3 Wed Round 3 of FA-2
    10/4 Thu Round 4-5 of FA-2
10/5 Sat Training Camp (Weight Training)
    SIN CITY GAMBLERS since 1990
    NEW ORLEANS DUKES since 1993
    1998 BLB Champions
    2000 BLB Champions

Since the start of the offseason was delayed one sim, why don't we just wait until Tuesday to resume, that way the schedule remains as is? The breaks fall on the weekend, and I think that's best for everyone involved.

I think this is the best plan. I recognize that everyone is anxious to get started, but the breaks in the schedule are really designed to fall where they do (based on the sims they cover) and I don't want to shift any of it around.

So we will begin the offseason on this coming Tuesday, 4/17.

Question - Do we get a chance to negotiate with our UFA first before anyone else?

BIG RED TEXT DOES NOT ANSWER MY QUESTION

                  I didn't want to assume.

As stated in previous threads, there is a help file in the game. It's in there also, in case the red text did not give it away.

                      I'm color-blind.

I apologize for asking for simple clarification. I'll try not to put folks out again.

Actually, the renegotiations stage does NOT allow you to renegotiate with UFA's who were on your team. It only allows you to negotiate with your own RFA's and guys already under contract (to re-work their deal to generate more cap room.)

                          Edited to add:

That is why it is important to renegotiate the deal of a guy that only has 1 year left on a contract towards the end of the season if you know you want to keep him on your team in future years.

If you could negotiate with your UFAs before anyone else, then what would be the point of free agency?
