  • 2033 FA 1.2 SIM Complete - Next SIM Sunday 03/09

Files due by 8:30pm ET! Next SIM = FA 1.3, Sunday 03/09

    Reminder on FA contract caps:

    you can offer:

    1 yr max $3mil
2 yr max $6mil (total, meaning 3mil avg per year)

Anything 3 years or more is open/fair game (meaning, you may offer as much or as little per year as you wish, as long as the deal is 3+ years long).

    -----------------------------------------------------------
We may not need it, but sticking with the 1 or 2 yr structure for now, since it's a bit of an unknown. Upped the $$ thresholds to 3mil per.

Hmm looks like CPU teams will pick up the talent at 1-2 yr deals that owners cant compete with . Anchorage just signed Newman for 1 yr 13+ million

With the new AI, is it time to consider scapping the one and two year contract restrictions starting next off-season?

Might be, although AI teams tend to need all the help they can get. It's a tricky issue, I agree.

but the AI will also hamstring its self with such offers, plus a wr in his 13th year i wouldnt be too worried about that.

Yeah, I agree with the above two posts. I'll be thankful when the AI makes stupid picks during the draft though. ;)

Shark is correct. However, we usually start the draft sometime around FA1 stage 5 or so, which means you'll want to have your high draft pick interviews in by then (ie. soon).

Normally Brad has an offseason schedule setup to let us know when the draft will roll out. Unfortunately he's slammed right now and hasn't gotten a chance to do that but the draft will officially start before we get to the end of FA1.

That's the game doing it. Some players refuse to get paid so little. It's one of the reasons I think our salary restrictions on FAs should go away.

So what are we doing about these contracts? Are we just not able to offer then or are we going over the restrictions?

You can't offer them when they say that. You've got to offer more money and/or years. Their agent thinks they're worth more, gotta pay up.

Unless there's some way around it I've yet to figure out. You can back load contracts to a certain extent, so try that.

I just meant is brad allowing these offers or are we just restricted from offering.

Probably we could discuss this for next year but is forbidden at this point
