Reminder on FA contract caps:

you can offer:

1 yr max $2mil
2 yr max $4mil

Anything 3 years or more is open/fair game (meaning, you may offer as much or as little per year as you wish, as long as the deal is 3+ years long).

No resolution on any FA rules change, so we're still under the existing CBA. No lockout, no strike.

Supposedly they can have some sort of negative effect on cohesion or get suspended more often, but people have had trouble quantifying it with data.

The consensus tends to be whatever negative effect it has is minor.

I always thought it was suspensions only and minor but Ben E Lou once said at FOFC, that its effects are mysterious, unknown, and he's never had trouble avoiding those players altogether.

I've basically just operated on "If they don't bring something important to my team then don't bother."

Using that rationale, I haven't had the need to sign any red flag players until I drafted Rowland last season.

FWIW I've had lots of red flag guys on some of my best teams. Never had any season long suspensions yet. I try to avoid them unless they are amazingly talented of an affinity, but that's only as a precaution

It's really satisfying to win without stud WRs. But I like winning with a receiver with 250 receiving yards and 6 tds even more. :)
