just trying to gauge the variabliity of the draft vs. experience/skill

I have yet to score a touchdown! WOoooOOoo!

And as I was just saying in another thread, I GMed a team in another league to back-to-back titles. I will say this, there's only so much you can do mid-season and especially the first one, so I'm basically just riding it out this inaugural season. It's really in between seasons that the real GMing gets done. For now, you're pretty much stuck. You can tweak your game plan, of course, but ultimately your players have to play and your coaches have to call the plays. I'm still trying to figure out what works best for my talent, and obviously I haven't found it yet. ;)

Let's see, 4-0, defense allowing only 4.2 ppg average with two shut outs so far. . . Nope not below five hundred.

I look at your D-Line and wish I had a powerback. I don't. Not even close. I barely have a fullback.

But you've done very nicely with those overacheivers. Color me impressed. :)

            Yes, I'm at .250 now :(

However, I knew I was going to take my lumps when I set my sliders to highly value youth and potential. As long as most of these guys pan out, we'll be tough to beat in 2 years or so.

I'm having a rough time as well, but I think I have a similar situation To what Eaglesfan27 does. Youth and inexperience seems to hold us back, especially in key situations. The only playmakers on my team happen to be veterans.. I don't think that is a coincidence.

My LB corps may be the only exception.

The season when you went undefeated made it too easy to calculate ----
