  • Smack Talk Week 2.

Interesting night in Anchorage measuring how well we travel and if the gameplan tweaks yield any improvements.

Good luck Anchorage. . . I'm focused on stopping your running back!

Huge game between Waco and Memphis. The winner has a leg up in the division. I'm hoping to pressure the injured Waco QB. Let's see how well he can get around on that gimpy knee.

The Monsters are traveling to Grizzlies country for a division matchup. The Grizz didn't have the best of luck stopping the run last week, so we're hoping to grind it out for an important win.

      Now for smack talk:

Henry Harrell will run over the Denver D for 180 yards and at least two TDs.

Yuma vs. San Fran for sole possession of first.. Didn't think I'd be saying that, but the Aces are gonna dig their heels in at home and try to hold off the number one run game in the league.. It's going to be a battle.

Got a secret weapon to hopefully unveil this week as well..

My prediction: Yuma 16, San Fran 14. Turnovers and special teams will rule the day. :)

The Mechanics first ever home game and it's against a division opponent - the closest in proximity no less. I think the Mechanics and Extreme could develop into a nice rivalry over the years.

On paper this season, Motor City SHOULD have the better team. We played great defense last week and need to do the same this week.

Keys to the game (as I see them):

          1) Protect Hecht - Lake County can get after the Quarterback. We'll need to keep Hecht vertical. I would expect to see stud FB Artie Mayes staying in to protect on sure passing downs.

          2) Win the turnover battle - Ball control is huge for any team, but Kenneth Clements needs to secure the rock.

          3) Good Start - The Mechanics are not a team built to play catchup. Their offense is old school "Bo and Woody" 3 yards and a cloud of dust mixed with West Coast style short crossing routes. They're built for long drives, not quick scores.

          Should be a good one!!!
          The Great One!

          Too many rings to count.

With any luck and no mistakes after tonight Morgantown can be 2-0 to start off the season. We visit Charlotte tonight. Hopefully we can contain their running game as they are averaging 5.5 yds a carry. Should be a good one.

Well, the Steam travel to Utah to take on the Bees. The coach finally got around to tweaking the gameplan a little so we're interested to see how that turns out. Our starting TE will try to go as he's listed as questionable and won't be at full strength for another two weeks. I tweek the running game a little bit to utilize the better players on the line. I turned down the number of screen passes that we were attempting because if I see another "screen pass for no gain or 2 yards" i'm going to go nuts. I have a good veteran quarterback who under the "recommended" settings resulted in him being a bus driver so I've turned him loose a bit. oh well, again, interested in seeing how the changes I made pay off since statistically, we have one of the best teams in the league. I want to start playing like it.

Casey Vines will break both of Harrell's legs, Grizzlies win big.

I'll be happy to score a TD on offense. I'm just hoping our defense plays well again. That's about as much smack as the Reapers can talk right now.
