In my experience, if a guy has a zero (even with a ton of green) it will stay at zero. Might be a bug in the game.

Anyone have that cool little file with the +/- changes?

So far I'm excited about my draft and team. My starting QB took a huge hit so it's another 1 and done year for him. It's a bummer because I think the last few seasons I've had a really good team and a decent to good QB would have given us those extra wins needed to get to the playoffs.

That's generally my experience too, mike, although I don't know if it's a bug because I have seen exceptions:

The left is QB Patrick Whalen (and cut test) sometime in the 2021 season when I first signed him, and the right is sometime later, not sure which season. He's still on my team currently, although he ate some volatility this camp.

In Duerr's case it does look like one of those 0 bars that will just drop to nothing. But for what it's worth it's 1/30 currently to me. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thats what I have as well. 1/30. Maybe it's just a bar that will never reveal. We'll see if he makes plays in the regular season. Even with that, my overall secondary depth greatly improved this off season.

The OLB Macomber that I moved to S is the only time I've encountered a guy that had a rating of 1/100 ;)

If his zone ever gets that high, I'll be shocked lol.

EDIT: that guy is in the RNFL. Oops. Nothing to see here

Crap. Took some major hits (Grabulis -6, Bauer -8, Stone -24) :( And the 1st round QB looks every bit the hack everyone though. Rest of the draft looks pretty decent, and Austin went surprisingly +1, so might be some hope.

Well, at least Prescott doesn't have any zeros, right? That's something. Sucks to have a "short passes" QB sitting at 2/5 on short passes though.

Well I finally had a chance to look at the results. Not as terrible as I thought. Rico went -7, and we took a bunch of age hits. We did however, get a vol boom from DE McElroy and DE Guzy both. So our Pass rush got a little scarier and our pass game got a little weaker.

Most of the draftees look like they're making the team. Only the center we drafted looks like crap.

SO... my 5th year MLB went from 48/48 to 63/63. What causes that?

                        Volatility.

The volatility rating is the chance a player has of a ONE TIME, major increase or decrease in ratings. Your LB hit his volatility dice roll and went down. Just unlucky is all.

Players can get hit by volatility (in either direction) multiple times over their career though, and it isn't always a major increase or decrease. Clay's LB actually went up, so pretty good.

And while the volatility rating influences the likelihood of this happening, it can happen to any player at any time. Overall the major swings are really rare, period (but not like, BBCF rare ) I think minor ones happen with fair amount of frequency.

Volatility knockdowns and age hits are probably a very similar (if not the same) mechanism later on...not sure, I've never really been able to tell the difference.

The other thing is neither vol nor age affect a player's unmasking direction. If a guy is creeping up over the years, he'll continue even after a vol hit. If he's falling down, he'll continue even after a vol bump.
