Ok, I give. This is a bit overwhelming (and the less than helpful GUI isn't making it easier).

I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing now that I have my team.

I set my basic offense gameplan (who knows if it's saved) but that's about it.

Are the "recommend" settings any good? Does it take your staff's skills into account?

And how is it possible that I already have Major Conflicts between players (and what exactly does that mean to me?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The recommend settings are pretty solid for gameplanning. I'd suggest playing around with gameplans in single player a bit.

'Recommend' is often your friend. Especially for guys like me that often completely over-engineer their game plans. Um... like me... often...

And I know a lot of successful GMs that say, 'Hey! That's why I hire coaches!'

And they have a point. And a lot of people never ever use it. I'm right in the middle. If I'm unsure of something, I have no problem pressing the Recommend button. So, my plans are usually a mixture of both. Of course, I'll never say which is which. ;)

Altering the recommended game plan is a good way to tweak your playcalling and formations to better suit the attributes of your players or the weaknesses of your opponents, but the Recommended setting will give you a pretty balanced, vanilla plan that models pretty much what most pro teams wind up doing anyway. They will take your own player's attributes into effect, definitely, but without overdoing it. If your best run blockers are all on the right, it will lean heavily that way in the run direction settings, but still leave the door open for a few plays to the left. Likewise with pass depth settings.

And I'm not really sure how much of your opponent's tendencies they take into account in FOF 2007.

Ultimately your coach is going to call the plays, personel packages and formations anyway, so they're really just guidelines.
