2024 Stevens Cup MIDWEEK Complete - Stevens Cup SIM tomorrow morning!!
With two additions to the active roster, we're ready & up. This is cornerback Alan Broughton's second stint with the team. In the first one (2022) he didn't make it to TC. Now he'll get to play in a Bowl game.
Huh. It's actually pretty smart to release a guy you are going to release anyway who is on a 3 year deal or more currently. Shifts the cap hit to next year instead of incurring any later penalties.
This is also the last chance for anyone to do renegotiations...
To be honest, the only people I released were older, one-year deal players who I didn't plan on bring back. I hate when they clutter up my roster as UFAs. I especially hate it when one of them gets made into a leader.
We shouldn't have any teams on HAL, but what I suppose might happen is either Clown or me submits an illegal roster that requires HAL to sign some players. In which case they might scoop up your releasees.
I don't think either of us are in this situation though. OH, another time I've seen HAL signing guys was somewhere around TC or Week 1 or one of those early season deadlines. Mostly I figure a team that's been ravaged by an offseason of HAL probably could use a break or two, although I've definitely shaken my fists at HAL, thinking, "I totally woulda signed that guy."
I released my backup QB and it said I didn't have enough QB's which would lead to HAL signing players for me. Then the next message said my depth chart was not good and HAL would sign players for me.
I just didn't want HAL to sign a bunch of players for me if I wasn't playing...now I'm afraid to upload!
Yes, I am fairly confident that this won't be an issue. That logic only kicks in when you have a game to play (not during bye weeks, midweeks, etc). I did this at the end of the year in another league -- releasing a QB and leaving only two on the roster for the offseason.
