I love the drama in this matchup. The Bees are burning after a subdued regular season during which expectation was an improvement over the past year. We have a early-season loss to PXT to avenge, a rowdy barn-burner where we fell by one point, 34-35. And the Phils surely have the memory of last season's playoff dismantlement at the hands of Utah engraved in their heads.

Meanwhile defending champ Dakota is back in the dance, one team I would relish to have another crack at. High-flying Ohio Valley takes on a nicely turned-around Waco team.

And a similar redemption story in St. Paul as Matt brings a 10-6 St. Paul squad to face a surprisingly down 8-8 Camden team.

10-6...our best record since 2013 when we went 10-6. It is the 1st playoff appearance for all my top picks since that point...G Donny Diaz, DT Kurt Lee, RB Donald Scheungrab, LB Cary Norris, TE Rich Gregory, and FL Buddy Collier. All of them have contributed greatly this season.

All though QB Rod McAleese started out with 0 TD/4 int he finished off the year throwing 14 TD's to 8 int's after we figured out how to run the offense around him. His 60.1 completion percentage and 73.7 rating was the highest we've had in a decade around these parts. Obviously we don't have a top tier offense but that continues to be a work in process.

Our defense suffered from our 28th ranked offense but still managed to hold opponents to 17.1 PPG...good enough for 7th overall. Also we really went after the turnover this season and ended up forcing 35...3rd in the league. We also won the return game as our PR/KR both averaged higher than our opponents.

Overall it was a very exciting year in St. Paul. We've worked hard the last few seasons trying to learn this game and I owe a lot to Nutah as well as a few other coaches who've answered the countless questions I've had.
