A look ahead at the players about to hit the FA market. It's open hunting season and there are some teams with cap to burn...Denver and Las Vegas lead the way with over 100 million in cap space each. Anchorage and San Francisco are at the other end of the spectrum. Both are in a bit of a bind with less than $15 million.

    QB

Robert McGettigan and Bobby "The Truth" Tubbs headline this free agent class, but they - along with Lake County's Nick Pipkin - are prime candidates for the tag.

jzicc, Nemesis, plastic, don't drop the ball here. Keep those QBs!

    RB

A.J. McGee and Isaac Staat headline this class, but both are obviously going to get their asses tagged.

    WR

Probably the dullest WR class in memory!

    LB

Punxsutawney are in a bit of a bind now. They must pick either Leo Borders or Robert McGettigan to franchise, but not both. I am guessing there is going to be a hellacious FA war on Borders.

A couple of beasts as well from Charlotte and Anchorage. Charlotte can keep tagging Robert Jamison forever, because he won't re-sign with them anymore.

    DB

Finally, a dull CB class! And the safeties too. Not much to get excited about here.

Overall, I think once the franchise tag settles things down, we'll be in for a quieter FA than normal. Which is good. Means that owners have been taking better care of not letting their own assets get away.

im on the side of realisim as i liek to see good guys hit FA, just the bidding wars get out of control more because of gamesmanship than actual "bidding wars" and

i still like the grey sheet rule if your willing to spend 70 mil on a player you better be willing to take the cap hit for 4 or 5 years instead of one or 2 if he blows out a knee or gets depressed.

Oh me too, but not stud QBs. That is pretty rare.

Isaac Staat is gonna be tagged for sure

Is my first season and I want to see what can I do with him, I think one of the most complete RBs in the league, very underused for the AI.

On the other hand, I'll probably have to say bye to T Raymond Garcia, my OLine leader. It would have been nice see him together with my other tackle doing blocks for Isaac.

In my opinion, the most realistic league I've been a part of is CCFL that Ben runs. It's a 25% cap reduction (Ben applies a 25% of the actual cap as a penalty to each team, each season), no Franchise player allowed, league. Excellent players hit the market every single offseason, and there's quite a stud player turnover rate. You can reneg any time you want (just like tony romo did this season, which happens to basically be a capout).

          Jus' sayin'...

i'd be all for this, but doesnt ben run a program that signs a scrub to each team automatically that 25% of the cap?

I guess that leaves 2, maybe 3 teams if Chicago never checks in. I think we might get this baby full again.

This time of the season is fun for me. It's like a silent auction on first class players. My team will not do very well with the top players in FA because of poor leadership. We have some young very good players that is a good footing to start with. If we just fill a lot of holes and get quality depth, we may win more games than going for the big name player. That said, I have to build an organization that top players will come to. I need players who want to be around, and happy. We're not there yet, and not until then will we be able to contend regularly. As we stand now we are worth the least amount of value in the league. We have a stadium the public is afraid to come to. The only thing good about it is the parking lot. Players get hurt on the turf. Yada, yada, etc., etc., and %U#!, &%$#. So, I'm going to put in a new stadium proposal every year until we are good enough for them to vote "yes". Good luck to all and bring your check books.

There are some other OSFL expats kicking around in the other SGN leagues or on the forums. I saw we conscript them all back in.

Yeah, just give them the teams, send the files to their email, and bother them incessantly until they give in. Sounds good.

I really like this FA class, depending on who all gets tagged, of course. For my team's purposes there may be some gold in there. Can't wait to get a crack at these guys.

Actually, I'm more interested in seeing whose scouts and managers I can steal away. First things first. :P
