Pawtuckets Starting Rotation:
P Alonzo Gugierrez- Yes he's old, but trying to get one year out of Alonzo while I continue to move pitchers up from the minors. Lets call him a "Merc"
P Larry LaRochelle- The guy battles thats for sure. 14-9 last season. Being N#2 this year I'm hoping helps him out. Probably last season as a Patriot.
P Norm Peterson- My scout says "pretty good pitcher for middle of rotation". Think my scout might be pulling my chain (3-8 5.69 era). Dropped to N#3 in rotation so lets see how he performs.
P Victor 'Shrimp' Rodrguez- Still young, but havent seen great results for the shrimper. Lefty starter could get pushed by Frost early in the year.
P Pancho Herrera- Wish he'd last longer in a game or else he'd probably be higher in the rotation. Could see Herrera in the bullpen before long if Manny Ocampo is brought up later this season.
Bullpen
P Ivan Gall- might be a close someday, but at 22 just going to keep him as middle refief for now.
P Brad Taylor- Former starter and only lefty in the pen. Had 1.80 in 29 games for Hyundai before being moved to starter in Pawtucket. Decided to put him back in the pen where he seemed to flourish.
P Doug Jones- Played like a loser last season and should be ashamed of himself. 5.19 ERA. After moving him around going to keep Doug in the setup role. Big year for Doug. Still only 24 so maybe just a down year.
P Don 'Dutch' Jones- Not sure he is the answer here, but for "Dutch" gets the role (Or until he sucks)
Rounding out the staff:
P Lu-po-teh Lou
P Mike Fritsch
P George Pease
Ready for the call
P Lonnie Hooper- L
P Waylon Morgan- R
P J.J. Frost- L
First timers who might see the bigs this year
P Manny Ocampo
P Ki-hyeon Lim?? (September call up at best)
Overall the pitching staff is better than the start of 1990. Best hope is middle of the road for this group in 1991 as this unit continues to be tweaked.
