He should retire or risk never living up to expectations.

How do you go into the new year after a season like that? Seriously. Even if he pitches great, it may never be as great.

I expect him to be "good" again but no way does he repeat a performance like that. In the playoffs, in five starts, he was 0-2, with a 3.21 ERA. Not awful, no, and it's a pretty small sample size, but for the guy who went 20-0 as a starter, he really fell off in the post-season.

Probably only has one more year with the Bats as well. After next season, he will be a Free-Agent and 34-years-old. I'm sure he will be asking for an arm and a leg as one of the best players in the BLB.

I'd like to see another 20 win season for Carlton. Puts him in the reverse Dennis Eckersley/John Smoltz mold and, maybe, gets him some HOF buzz.

If he has another 20 win season, the Bats make the playoffs, but don't win the title, and Carlton leaves via Free-Agency and after a few years with a few different teams, lots of one-year deals, he has HOF numbers....

What teams hat does he wear? Six years in Virginia and 170+ saves or three years in Washington with 40+ wins on three great* teams?

He'd probably wear a Colonial hat....might have to change him back to a RP on 2nd thought.

It's a Colonial's hat. However, with HOF money being split by VORP, Washington might end up getting the biggest piece of the financial pie.
