  • I think it shows they have some speed since they have more than 10 SBs but still hit into a lot of DPs. So it probably just means they hit a lot of DP balls.

The 2 that really stands out to me is Chewning & Robbins. They had 29 & 26 SBs each so they're fast but they still hit into 19 & 17 DPs. Not sure how many the average player hits into but that seems like a lot to have that much speed.

    • Thank you sir. I see now. Fast guys who still hit into DP, despite their speed.

      • Or maybe they hit behind a guy who is really slow?

A lot of these guys have just over 10 stolen bases. It probably shows that the average speeded player hits into 15+ double plays a year, but not everyone in the BLB can steal 10+ bases.

        • Thing about double plays is that players can only hit into them if they have runners on base in front of them. And it just so happens that guys will hit with runners on base when they are also in the 3rd or 4th slot in the lineup.

Look at that list. Is there really a player on that list you wouldn't want on your team?

                              Speaking of steals...

Whenever I think of the thievery behind the stolen base I think back on that Duck Tales episode when their butler became the baseball coach for Huey, Louie and Dewey's team. One of the three stole second and when told that he had stolen a base, the butler ran out to the field and scolded him and threw him on the bench. Hilarious.
