Yup. Catchers have always been overrated by the Top 100 prospects. I'm not too worried about any of the guys I drafted. The class sucked, and that's evident by the few that managed to break the Top 100.

    • I'm surprised Jed Lewis is so highly rated. I figured he'd make the top 100, but #41 is about 50 spots higher than I thought. Probably has a lot to do with his age since he's 17. A long way to go before he's a BLB pitcher.

Catchers certainly seem to get preferential treatment on this list. Nevada Guizan has been one of my top prospects for a few seasons now, though his ratings don't look the part. He's hitting fairly well so far as rookie though, so maybe he's better than those appear.

Yeah... BA/SISA seems to be higher on Artie Rhodes (who I took at 2.4) than Toselli. I'm not worried though. I think they'll both be good and, more than likely, one of them will be traded before they ever make the show. We're, most likely, going to lock up Nelson long term and Jerry Tracy is going to be a cornerstone... that really only leaves one everyday outfield spot. Let these cats duke it out.

And.... not to bring up the past.... I'm not saying... I'm just saying.... Yan Van Stan Can Dan Tan.... is getting better. Not saying... just saying....

              #94 - 2B Héctor González (Los Lunas 14th overall)

As of today, I would have to say the "winners" are Windy City, Batavia, Baltimore, Carolina and Hartford. The Playboys landed two of the top 10 players in the entire draft. The Muckdogs had two picks make the top 100 list, one being a 4th round pick. The Bulldogs also had two picks make the list, including the 9th best player taken in the middle of round two. The Tobs landed the 7th best player with the 19th overall selection. And the Whalers landed the best overall player with the 7th selection.

Of the teams with first round picks, who didn't make the list are:

CL Paul Kwayera (Dallas 10th overall) - Did not make ORG top 10*
SP Tino Suarez (Maine 11th overall) - #6 on the ORG top 10
SP Hidehira Matsui (Wilmington 12th overall) - Did not make ORG top 10
LF Florian Toselli (Virginia 15th overall) - Did not make ORG top 10
3B Hector Lopez (Wilmington 16th overall) - #6 on the ORG top 10
1B Luwen Knegt (Wilmington 20th overall) - #7 on the ORG top 10
MR George Birley (Sin City 21st overall) - Did not make ORG top 10*
3B Kip Carr (Wilmington 22nd overall) - Did not make ORG top 10
SP Anibal Soto (Pittsburgh 23rd overall) - Did not make ORG top 10
MR Chad Williams (Washington 24th overall) - Did not make ORG top 10*
Well here we are only a few weeks later and things have changed quite a bit. A good group have slid up or down 5-10 slots, which will probably happen often. But Wilmington gets one of their #1 picks into the Top 100 and Pitt finds a possible gem in the 2nd round in Raul Rosales. Meanwhile #2 overall pick Al Smoot plummetted from #29 to being unranked. Not that this really means anything but I thought it would be interesting to look at.

              #20 (#30) - C Héctor González (Pawtucket 3rd overall)
              #33 (#26) - C Manny Cisneros - Cali
              #34 (#28) Arlen Specter - Philly
              #35 (#39) - SP Kris Clark (Indy 9th overall)
              #47 - Raúl Rosales - Pitt - 2nd Round, Pick 23, #47 overall
#51 (Unranked) 3B Hector Lopez (Wilmington 16th overall) - #6 on the ORG top 10
              #58 (#44) - 3B Yoshinaka Toiguchi (Windy City 8th overall)
#61 (#64) - SP Nakazo 'Chuckwagon' Sasaki (Batavia 1st overall)
              #64 (#66) - SP Sammy Homer (Mississippi 6th overall)
              #68 (#20) - RF Bao-qing Yang (Hartford 7th overall)
              #74 (#94) - 2B Héctor González (Los Lunas 14th overall)
              #78 (#73) - SS Geoff Scott (Philly 17th overall)
#83 (#80) - CF Iván Montés (Maine Sandwich pick...mmm sandwich pick....)
              #84 (#58) - C Don Thompson (Baltimore 2nd round, 36th overall)
              #94 (#71) - LF Joe Saxton (Baltimore 13th overall)
              #99 (#84) - C Pete Davenport (Batavia 4th round, 74th overall)

Unranked (#29) Al Smoot - Morgantown (2nd overall)
Unranked (#41) - SP Jed Lewis (Carolina 19th overall)
Unranked (#63) - RF Raúl Esquivel (Windy City 18th overall)

                    • They are there... you have to look at the full list, not the BA Top System list because it is restricted in the #1 of players it can show.

Yeah, I see Saxton, but I don't see Raul Esquivel. I see a Joe Esquivel for Syracuse though.

You're right. My Equivel plummetted in the SISA rankings...although he took no hit by my scouts. T

                              • Yeah... even the BLB Top Players list is pretty dynamic. I know just tracking my own guys, Oyos has gone from off the list to #20, to off, to #19, back to #20... now he's at 19 again.

Taracena has been on and off the list all year. And Harcourt has ranged from off the list to as high as #14 (where he is now).
