      • Bad: After trading away Kataoka, the Bats fall to 20th in Top Systems.

Good: 3B Ron Liverett, drafted 2.21 this year, debuts at #99 on the list. He's hitting .412 with a 1.107 OPS in August.

        • After drafting CL Alex Otero in the Rule V draft...

And moving him from CL to 2B...

He is now the #27 top prospect in baseball.

            • Yeah nice pick up Pat. He was next on my list.

Pawtuckets 5 prospects are all hitters. Lol, sounds like typical Patriot baseball. Judging by the feeder leagues I may need to wait til 2008, but needing to pop a few starters over the next few seasons.

Unfortunately that's tough to do in this league. Dominant, non cheating pitchers have been the difference for many teams. New Orleans has one of the most dominant of the last decade in RJ Curtis. Pat Dimmick was another. I would've thought one of Windy City's big three would have done it by now.

I'm hoping Coma becomes one. Happy that Angulo moves up to the #2 P spot and Pulido continues to progress.

Herberholz has been pretty dominant the last three seasons. Unfortunately he has not been in the post season. Mejia kind of the same. I'm hoping now that they are becoming grizzled veterans that experience will pay off.

Seems you need a top 2 or co-aces at min to make consistent deep runs in the playoffs. We tried to hit our way into winning the cup in the 90's.

Funny thing is Pawtucket's early 00's teams were less talented, but built more on pitching and no a surprised went bit further in the playoffs.

I guess the summary is hitting can get you there, but pitching seems to win out more come playoff time.

Learned this in the 90's as well.

Yeah, but isn't that more just saying, "You can't be one of the best teams unless you have good pitching?"

That seems like it should more or less be true all the time.

Probably. Personally I don't think you need 5 Aces (be nice though) Just saying two should be enough then 2 dependable then 5th guy is usually riding a hot hand or catching lightening in the a bottle.

Now can you sport of 7-8 great and hitters and get to the playoffs. Sure.

I don't think there is a formula, really.

My advice...acquire the most talent as possible.
