I believe this is the 1st time that I've ever had more than 2 Top 100 pitchers on the list at any given time.
I think Gomez dropped because of his performance. He was rushed.

That was probably some of it. But when I promoted him, I was under the impression that Wallace was going to be traded...

I do think a lot of guys in the league miss out on quite a few prime years for their players trying to wait for peak performance in the minors. Personally, I'm fine with a guy struggling early in the BLB.

      • Dude played one year above Single-A... That season in double-A he had a .693 OPS and an OPS+ below the Double-A league average. The next year, he is in the BLB after seven Triple-A games.

        • I'm fine with a slight struggle here and there.

He hit .300 in April, .280 in May, had a bad month in June, and is now hitting over .400 in July. He's got the second best BA against lefties on the squad with a .320 average and he starts in right field. I'm not worried.

Right or wrong, I don't base promotions solely on time served in the minors. If my scouting director thinks he's ready for the bigs after just one year, he's getting a chance. I see no reason for someone to languish in the minors until they are old and grey, if they can compete now.

          • Yeah, he has good contact. Those five walks in 151 PAs is poor, however.

If he's got it in him, it will come around. My scout thinks he'll be ok drawing walks, nothing special though. I'm expecting a breakout year in '97 from him.

              • Somebody figure this one out for me:

Last year or so, I trade for Ivan Martinez. After dominating AA, I move him to AAA where he struggles, and poof, he falls from #6 overall on the BA list to off completely.

Suddenly, this sim, he pops back up from nowhere to #16. I know what happened - but I mean... come on.

                • That is the classic sign of a failed prospect.

Tell ya what, I'll take him off your hands for a 5th round pick.

Terrible deal for Washington. Giving up way too much.

                    • Moved up to #4 on the Top Prospects List and Katsura has surged to #65. I can't wait to see the October re-scout.

These are the things you look forward to when you aren't in the hunt for the playoffs.

                      • Still almost last with 1 prospect. When I tear apart what I built in a few seasons hopefully I jump up that list as I fall down in the standings column.

                        • Just one prospect, but least he's a SS which I'll be needing pretty soon.

California has won a Brewmaster's... and played in another...

                              Baltimore has never been.
