I find this intriguing because if the coach's are telling me this, this puts a whole new emphasis on the ability of your coach's, no?

And what rating would be affecting this? Their ratings supposedly only tell us if they can teach or manage. I've always assumed that teach is equal to reaching potential whereas manage is equal to playing to your current abilities.

How do we know if a coach can accurately tell us if a player is ready for the next level? None of their ratings hint at an ability to recognize talent.

      • Why would I put a pitcher with 3 control in AAA?

Because he's 7 in stuff and movement, he's only projected to be a 4 in control and he's dominating AA.

For all you know he may be at 399/400 right now.

They are trying to ruin your top pitching prospect. I'd leave him in AA for the next three or fours years if I were you.

            • My scout says his control will never allow him to play in the BLB...but that he's grateful to be in Cali instead of Pawtucket.

Why would you keep a guy 6 in Stuff and a 7 in Movement in AA?

He's already "developed" 75% of his control and near 100% of everything else.

There's not much left to develop. There's only a little AAA season left I would use it.

And I'm not saying this to be smart, but he's your guy so you gotta do what you feel is best. I'm just saying if he was mine it would be a few AAA starts, if he swims Sep callup. "Kid" will be 25 in the off season. If he can't handle AAA just let him finish the year there.

At the same time, the next time I devop a top player I'll let ya know.

I guess I develop players differently than everyone else.

I have certain ratings that must be met before a prospect is ready to advance. Maybe that hurts me in the long run... but I feel like the system works, so far.

And that's cool, your own business.

But I'm just curious. He's a 3 Control now in AA. What rating does he have to be to be in AAA? And then what level in the bigs?

He has 1 point of growth left unless you're banking on some POT development which is lightning in a bottle.
