    • Anyone else have a player like this?

      Danny Gutierrez

Drafted in the 5th Round as a combo-player at TCU.

He pitched and hit while playing college ball. Not only can he throw a 93-mph fastball along with a nice slider, but he can play every position on the field pretty well and has great speed swiping 36 bases.

Gutierrez only played the field in 1991 for Little Rock and hit pretty well for a late pick. We decided to make him a pitcher in 1992, but he struggled. So, he was promoted to AA as a hitter and went 4-5 in his first start.

The player card doesn't show his overall numbers which is a shame and OOTP should fix that, but I'm interested in giving him more chances to pitch. I never realized you can slide a hitter into the pitching staff, but Gutierrez pops up as an available pitcher even if he's listed as a SS. So he's gonna get a chance to showcase both talents in Oklahoma.

      • We are sitting in the basement of this list and is probably one of the reasons why we wont be active this trade deadline.

Our only player on the list is Gus Brown who is now our everyday shortstop. We should see a big goose egg soon joining Pittsburgh and Indy.

          Sanchez up to 57th!! Wow!

Recently acquired Sammy Knowlton did not debut on the top 100 for the Bats but he is the highest rated org hitting prospect behind Burton, who is ranked.

          • Wes Farmer falls off the list due to turning 26 during the past sim.

Happy we didn't see a massive drop in rankings after losing Farmer.

Dani Salcido fell off the cliff too. On the top prospects list and on the mound. Our season is falling apart.

                  He's not ready.

Until the game says 'Ready for ...' and you leave them in the level they're currently on, they won't regress.

True, they won't regress but that doesn't necessarily mean that he wouldn't progress faster at the next level.

What if it says "Possibly ready"? Are they regressing at that point?

                        I don't think so.

                        Not positive though.

                        • Where are you getting this from? The manual?

I thought that was only opinion in that report?

Everything I've ever heard was that they can regress if not sufficiently challenged. I've never heard of that report having any bearing whatsoever on that though. Did I miss that somewhere?

                          • I wish I knew whose opinion that is as well.

Is it OSA? Is it my scout? Is it one of the drunk league scouts that makes our Top Prospects List and then makes a totally different one for the Player Cards?

                            Is it God?

The Minor League System Report is a detailed report of all minor league teams in the selected team's organization. It includes suggestions from your coaching staff on the disposition of each of your minor leaguers.
There ya go. I don't think it has anything to do with scouting. This is your minor league coaches telling briefly what they think of a players development as that time.

As far as "challenge" This is all I see in the manual.

Players respond differently to challenges. Often, a player who is tearing up Double A hitting might not be developing very quickly, because he isn't being challenged. Similarly, putting an overmatched rookie into your major league starting lineup could actually hurt his development.
I have always been of the school if a player is dominating at a level you move him up or risk losing potential. Maybe I missed something.
