    • Washington Bats are currently 6th on the top systems list...but that is about to come crashing down. Pitcher Derrek Tucker (#7) and C/1B Tyrone Abbott (#18) are having great rookies seasons but will soon not be considered "prospects." Behind them I only have 1989 1st-round-pick pitcher Cy Pryor (68th).

I also just noticed how deep the farm systems are in Pittsburgh, Virginia, Pawtucket, Los Alamos and Morgantown are. Look at the points. After that top five the talent level really drops off considerably.

Ummmm... do you see the pattern with those 5 teams?

        • I don't understand the Top Prospects List.

Only looking at my team (because that's who I look at most) there is no reason Jeremiah Gray isn't a Top 100 Prospect. He's only 21, just completed a POY run in AAA and he's not a Top 100 Prospect?

In real life, he'd be considered in the Top 10 at worst.

His potentials never dropped either but for some reason he continues to slide every year. I don't understand how this prospect list is made. I've pretty much started to ignore it. When OSA had Darryl O'Day as my number 2 prospect, I knew that it was screwed up beyond belief.

And just like that, Derrek Tucker is no longer considered a "prospect" because he has hit the magic number for BLB IP.

The D.C Bats now fall to 17th with just C/1B Tyrone Abbott (16th) and SP Cy Pryor (67th). Once Abbott loses his eligibility, it's going to look pretty grim on the farm.

            • Took three years, but OF Wes Farmer finally makes the jump onto the list from outside the Top 100 all the way up to #77.

While originially hated by OSA, Farmer has proven his worth in his stops at A ball and AA ball.

              • And we are no longer the lowest rated system in the BLB!

                Shawn Bowen

C/CIF/LF? Shawn Bowen makes the leap from off the radar into the number 78 spot. He was the 47th overall pick in the 1990 draft out of HS. Originally a catcher, we’re trying to see if he can learn another position since catchers fall out of trees in this league. He’s intelligent, but has a low work ethic so we’re not certain if it’s going to happen. He shows a good contact/eye combination which is always a good thing. Still only 19, there’s a lot of development time left. He’ll spend the majority of the season at A Ball unless he forces his way up later in the season.

                • OF Shawn Burton
                  1990, 2nd round, 13th pick

Burton was a prospect I was shocked to see available in the 2nd round of the 1990 draft. I almost pulled the trigger on him in the 1st that year but decided to go with the flame-thrower Don Bolton. He now makes his debut on the top 100 for the first time coming in at 96th.

After a very poor first campaign at Single-A, Burton is now hitting .323 in his second stint. OSA has his potential at 6-7-6-6-6, he has "high" work ethic and intelligence scores with little to no desire to win.

The Bats have the worst farm in the BLB...and my best player just retired.
