  • If you want some good entertainment reread this thread. I went back from day one and almost every guy that was brought up being on the top 100 list is retired or toiling in AA somewhere. I know the list doesn't mean much, but holy crap I never realized how the majority of the people on it just bust.

    • Pepe Gonzalez has rebounded to #14 on the list. He still can't hit anything at A level, so I'm officially worried he'll bust soon but my scout still likes him.

            • I forgot to investigate when I checked the sim results last night, but was there a rescout?

I noticed one of my prospects being slightly better than he was last sim. With the DC jump, I'm guessing so.

              edit:

I see what happened. There was a major update. All of my young pitchers currently in the Majors are now off the list.

              • I was bored, and pulled up the 1979 Top Prospects list.

                http://web.archive.org/web/200610261...prospects.html

It's interesting to see how things have shaken out.

                --Gremades at 37.
-- Gorrie and Donegan had some early success, but never lived up to that promise.
-- Woodbury all the way down at 11.
                -- Tim Nathan at 33
                -- Pateshall at 65
                -- Parongao at 78
                -- Simmonds at 84

                Good times.

                  • Acid ruined Roberts. I felt so bad for that kid. He was #2 on my draft board behind Woodbury that year. I thought for sure he was the next Greg Maddux. I believe my scout had him at 5/7/8. But Acid called him up at age 19, and he just wasn't ready.

                    • Pat also said he reminded him of Maddux when I asked about what people saw in him, a few years ago.

Oh well, sounds like the guy could of been a good one.

I'm not sure if it was injuries or that mystical good one year, you suck the next, OOTP logic.

                        I'll go with the latter...

                        • I had about 9 guys up there. 3 of them turned out to be decent or better. The rest, busted. That's about right for the Top 100 list.

                            • So, with the draft class added, how's your minor league system looking?

California added three players to the Top 100 list.

Really happy with the crop I picked up. In the last couple of drafts I've been lucky to have one player appear on the Top 100 prospect list... to get three is quite a welcomed surprise.

                              • None of the players I drafted are on the top 100 list...but...

2.13 - OF Shawn Burton - #4 on my teams top list (with my top three being top 100)
                                2.18 - 2B Adrian Prado - #8
1.18 - P Don Bolton - #15 (Since he currently only has two pitches, I moved him to MR and his ratings went up)
                                4.7 - P Leo Mena - #16
                                6.13 - SS Nate Wallace - #17

I'm pleased with my draft, but I will probably always regret not selecting 1B Arapeta Huanani. My scout had him as #1 in potential and #1 on the draft list, but I passed on for Bolton at #18, mainly because he was international and if was as good as my scout thought he should have gone top 5-10. Instead, he goes to the 2nd round to Virginia, and is the 28th best prospect in the BLB.
