  • After Herrerra and Rhodes lost their eligibility, we dropped to #3.... however... Herrerra did give his #1 spot to teammate Yoritoki Maeda. Maeda spent exactly half the season in Virginia and came on strong at the end (.312 in September). He had 20 2Bs and 9 3Bs in his 81 games. Once his power develops, he is going to be Virginia's 1st Stout Slugger. In fact, I'll go out on a limb right now and say if his Power hits Potential, he'll be the BLB's first member of the 40:40 Club.

        • Well, Baseball America updated....

And the Bats have fallen very, very far. Robert Abbott is no longer a "prospect" and the Washington franchise has fallen all the way to 19th. Might be a rough couple years on the farm.

          • Baseball America moves dynamically now. It literally can change week to week now. I've seen some of my guys move nearly every week.

Hector Pagan (P), Wilmington. Oh and my guy Loren Wallace dropped to #33, not good.

              • #3 to #7.

Nice to see 3B Randall move into the list. Hopefully this last draft will pay off in a few seasons...just in time to jettison Alsina's $20 million contract!

Did not expect to jump to #3, but nice to see.

Last time we were this high up, it was a run of hitters in the Top 100. Included the likes of Seltzer, Borkholder, Higgins, Browning and Al-Sadat.

Now it's arms. Pat Wentzel makes a return to the Top 100 to make it 9 Top 100 pitching prospects in the Denver system.

1989 will feature four of them in the big leagues.

                  • I had AA pitcher, Dani Salcido debut on the Top 100 at #57 last week. My scout says he's just a 5th starter, but its great to see something like this from a 7th round pick.

                    • Signed Brad Pierce, an OF minor league free agent this past sim.

My scout is absolutely in love with this guy.

Clay cut him this year, so I assume he knows a bit about him... kind of surprised our scouts don't share the same view on him as our scouts are usually in-sync, in the draft.

I'm going to give him starts in LF for the rest of the year. I'm hoping he'll move fast and I can start him in AA next year.

                      • I noticed that my scout gave me some new numbers 8/1. A few of my minor league guys picked up some skills. Here's to hoping it continues.

Scout was very high on him pre-injury. Then when the stats didn't come after a year back, cut time came and I had to decide between him and a younger guy who I took this draft. I went that way.

                          • '89 1st-round pick SP Cy Pryor makes his debut on the top 100! Currently at 94th. The youngster should be a fast riser.

                            • When the draft was imported I posted this:

C Pepe Gonzalez made his debut at #17 on the BA Top 100 Prospect List. Now begins his quick downfall to obscurity. I'd be willing to be he won't be on the list this time next season.
He's now down to 67, so right on track.

                              • Welcome to the big board Yoshi! Making his debut on the top 100 prospect list (actually he joined it last sim) at #97, last year's Philly Freedom Minor League Pitcher of the Year. It will be short lived since he'll certainly fall off the list once the draft goes down, if not before.
