Now that they don't send messages when that happens, you won't find out about it until the new scouting report comes out next month.
    You may be right.

What's funny is my scout actually soured on Murdock probably...around 1985. Had him at 4-5-5-5-5 while he just kept rising and rising up the top prospect board. I think he is now in the 6-6-5-5-5 area...but I wouldn't be surprised.

My scout has soured on Pete Summers who was top 50 prospect, IL ROY and then lost his eligibility after "x" amount of games/ABs. Big time though. 6s are now 5s, 5s are now 4s, lots of 3s.

      • 22nd overall, but have some decent guys:

        -3B Tex Briggs (67th) - AAA
        -2B Johnathan Holmes (78th) - A

I'm pretty sure Wally Eden is around 100th as he's been off and on the list recently.

        • Pretty happy with what I've got.

          California Kodiaks - 6th overall

          #2 Conan Wilkerson - BLB SP (10-4, 2.32 ERA, 128/41 K/BB, 1.06 WHIP, 38.3 VORP)
          #18 Jarred Good - AA 2B (.330, 11 HR/62 RBI, 34.3 VORP)
          #26 Jared Austin - AA C (.334, 7HR/68 RBI, 37.4 VORP)
          #53 Rod Phillips - AA C (.301, 7HR/45 RBI, 74 BB, 35.5 VORP)
          #77 Chip Snow - AA SP (12-1, 2.39 ERA, 122/29 K/BB, 1.02 WHIP, 30.7 VORP)
          #88 Curt Race - AA SP (7-8, 1.93, 105/17 K/BB, 0.85 WHIP, 24.8 VORP) - A ball stats
          #99 Pete Gentry - A OF (.163, 0HR/6 RBI, -6.2 VORP)

What I like about my prospects are they are actually playing well (outside of Gentry), so they really make me feel like they could be prospects and not just guys the game randomly said could be good in the future.

          • #18 system, pretty much what I expected, but Kris Clark has been dropping all year. Started the season in the 50's, but now he's #100. He's having a good year though and garnered a lot of attention at the deadline, so hopefully he's someone we can count on with Abe and Gauina getting up in the years.

            • Added a new player to the top 100, C Victor Alvarez at #93. He had spent the first 3 years of his pro career in A-ball after being drafted in the 15th round of the 1984 draft as a 17 year old. We decided to finally push him to AA at midseason just to see how he would react and he's posted .322/.412/.476/.888 in 143ABs (19/13 K/BB ratio). He had a career total of 5 HRs in 506 A-ball ABs but has hit 4 in his AA ABs.

We're not expecting anything great, but in a system like ours you have to shine a light on anyone who happens to start achieving any level of success. It will be interesting to see where he tops out (scout projects 5/4/5).

              • Dropped to 7th but I knew that would happen when Al-Sadat fell off the list.

Gray is falling but I expect it. I was excited to see him at #3 in the preseason but I thought it was too generous. I do have #21, 22, 23. Consistency. The Denver way.

                • One of my borderline Top 100 guys, Lonnie Coleman, just got knocked out for a year. He came over on more than a few wishlists during the trade-deadline. Part of me wishes I would have dealt him now.

                    • BA decided to place AA SP Doug Miles at #99 on the most recent list. My scout thinks he should be working on a broadcast journalism degree rather than wasting his time throwing a baseball.

In 12 AA starts this year he sits at 7-3 | 74.0 IP | 3.28 ERA | 81 K | 1.28 WHIP. He works in the low to mid 90's and has a 67% GB rate. His potential ratings don't really seem to indicate any future success at higher levels, but at least it gives me someone else to keep an eye on. I always like to see a SP with K>IP and a ground ball rate that high.

                        • I'm guessing some players played their way off this week (Rex Knight?) because Yoritoki Maeda jumped up to #3 (Top Batting Prospect). He's hitting .313 in September any really finding his groove at the BLB Level. All the tools are there only his Power still developing.

He's hitting a lot of doubles... already has 6 triples in 62 games... and has swiped a few bags. When he's fully developed, I think he becomes the #3 hitter in my lineup sandwiched between a couple All-Stars.

I think I march out an '88 Opening Day lineup of:

                          #1 - Artie Rhodes
                          #2 - Dale O'Hegarty
                          #3 - Yoritoki Maeda
                          #4 - Vincent Nino
                          #5 - Joshua Poling

If Maeda and Rhodes hit potential... I put that Top 5 up against any in the league.

                            • We're still 12th on the list, but we've got 4 top 100 pitching prospects.

Hector Castre (#35)- probably will drop off soon
Pat Coleman (#57)- first year in A
                              Hector Perez (#76)- in AAA
Jonathon Ward (#83)- doing well in his second year in A

Hopefully these guys will pan out and we'll have a pretty solid rotation of young pitchers in a few seasons.
