  • Pretty pissed off with my scout right now.
At the time of the draft, he had written that Huang was a once in a decade hitter.
Now he says, "With work he can be a consistent offensive contributor". WTH?
Like I need another RFer who can't field!!?! The only reason I took him is because my scout figured he'd be an all-star slugger who I can move to DH.
    What a dickhead.

I'm not sure either of my scouts have ever been right when it comes to offensive players.

        • My scout had Huang at 3-5-4 potential when you drafted him. He's upgraded him to 4-5-4 potential now. He's on my list of players to keep an eye on to see if my scout saw something that everybody else missed, or if he missed something that everybody else saw.

Sometimes you get to seeing a guy more against a higher level of competition and your read on him changes.

            • I might end up burning myself by going with OSA instead of my scout with Jimmy Thompson and Jimmy McGraw.

McGraw can't seem to get going in A ball despite being ranked so highly. Meanwhile Ed Zahn spends one season in A ball, has played better than McGraw, and already my scout wants him in AA.

Hopefully McGraw is a slow learner because he's going to be in AA next season now that he's getting too old.

Maybe his grow op is the problem.

                • Zack Molina (1.20), who OSA hates, got another significant bump from my scout. Jimmy Knutson (1.9) has pitched well - in line with his collegiate stats but no love from the Top 100 either.

It'd be nice if they were on there. Then again, look at guys like Erik Jackson who came out of that 2014 draft and was one of a very few who didn't crack the Top 100 for some time after.

I have several players performing well in the BLB who never cracked the Top 100 list... I don't Trust OSA too much, but to be fair I have one of the best Scouts in the league, however he loves tools too much and it leads to some bad experiments (Graffing, Miller... among others). When they are not rookies anymore the Truth unveils... And his reading about some players change.

                        • Johnny Hoffman hit .377 in Single A and jumped up to #33 by season's end, but my scout has soured a bit as far as his writeup is concerned. I still think he's gonna be really good, and my scout favors tools as well so I'm thinking he isn't as high on him because Hoffman is more of a finished product type.

Corr was off the list completely but eventually made it into the 60's after hitting over .300 and driving in 63 runs in an abridged season. Was a little surprised that he didn't seem to be as high on everyone else's list at draft time, but I think he'll be #Elite.

Slow learner because he smokes pot (ie. grow operation). Your dude's a stoner. :P
