Here comes those Muckdogs! Batavia goes 6-1 to move to 60-66 on the season, but still find themselves seven games back in the Wild Card race. This is a team that has only won 70 or more games twice since 2052, so hopefully the rise is coming. The super team of the week though was the Hartford Whalers, who went 6-0 by sweeping Pawtucket and Toronto. Hartford is now 69-57 and only three games back in the Ale race. Being 12 games over .500 used to win the Ale by about 12 games, but now there are three teams over .500. Times are a changing. Other nice weeks were Dallas and Washington who went 5-1, while Baltimore went 5-2.

Performance of the Week

LF Marcus Trask - Hey rookie, go easy on everyone else. The 24 year old has been in the BLB for 29 games, and against Phoenix on August 19th he smashes three home runs and plates eight as Windy City won 16-4. Drafted in the second round of the 2057 draft, Trask spent all of 2063 in AAA, and was there 65 games this season before getting told he was going to the show. Now here he is hitting .405/.420/.724 with 10 HR and 29 RBI in just 116 at bats.
Prospect of the Week

RF Chase Spiker - He'll be draft eligible next season, and Spiker is an intriguing pick. He puts the ball in play, he can hit for power and also drive it in the gap, and coaches love his intangibles. He also is one of the best left fielders in college baseball, but he could make an even better infielder scouts say...like a DWI level second/short stop. Pacific hasn't used him there, but coaches stated they will move him around for his senior season.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. We didn't cover it, and it's been a month, but Andy Bernard hit four home runs in a single game on July 26th against Syracuse. It's only the fifth time in BLB history that this occurred, and the first since Isaac Pack did it for Pittsburgh in 2059 (which was the first time since 2046). Pack only hit 21 home runs that season, meanwhile Bernard is up to a league leading 43 and is on pace to smash 55 this year. Drafted 15th overall in 2056 by New Orleans, this is his third full season in the majors and he's now been selected to back-to-back All-Star games. He's not great in right field, but when you're slugging .581, 10th best in the league, they will find a spot for you to play.
2. With LAD at 98% and Carolina at 97% for making the playoffs, New York, Baltimore, and Batavia are all fighting for the final Import playoff spot. The Cyclones are predicted to take it with an 82% chance, followed by Baltimore at 16%, and Batavia at 5%. New York has lost some ground this month though by going 11-11, while Baltimore is 13-10 and Batavia is 12-10. The Cyclones also have a +8 PYT, mostly due to a -41 run differential, making their PYT the highest in the league. Meanwhile Batavia has a +9 R/D, and a -4 PYT to go with it. In the Domestic it still appears to be Wilmington, New Orleans, and Indy all locking it up so far. Which means there are three spots left between Hartford, Dallas, Montreal and Pittsburgh. All of them are over 60% per our friends at Stats+, so it could be a wild finish.
3. Colton Coffin is tied with Bernard for the home run title, as the 30 year old Coffin is doing everything he can in his contract year. Sources near the club are stating Coffin is asking for under $20m a year, which seems like a bargain for a guy on pace to put up a 5.9 WAR. Some other free agent to be as of now, 30 year old Lon Leseberg (3.0 WAR) of the Voodoo, 29 year old David Mitchell (3.7 WAR) of the Drillers, 27 year old Ryan Carr (3.2 WAR) of the Pilots, 36 year old Jannero Peter (4.0 WAR), and 34 year old Antonio Sutton (4.2 WAR), of the Canadians.
4. It's been a good year for Maine...when it comes to injuries. The Guides haven't used an injured list day yet this season. Coming in tied for second are Seattle and Carolina at just seven days. On the other end Dallas is up to 266 days, with Montreal just behind them at 238. Monetary wise the Exports are number one though! They've spent $9.35m on the IL this season, beating out Phoenix at $7.97m and Toronto at $6.9m.
5. What's on tap? The divisional match-ups are back again with hot Hartford traveling to Pittsburgh, LAD trying to stop the slide against Windy City, and Dallas trying to create more space against Montreal.
