The Brewski's
The Daily Keg is excited to announce the 21st Brewski's award show. The selection committee has 'poured' over last season stats and excitedly announces the winners for the following awards, some serious...some not so serious. So without further delay here we go.
Player of the Year
CF Teddy Burch, MON - He actually got better from last season, when he also won the Brewski for Player of the Year. This past year he hit .347/.403/.576 with 28 HR, 96 RBI, and 57 SB while putting up a +11.2 ZR in center field. He's the best player on the team with the best record in the league, and he's only 23 years old.

Ford Raptor Award
(Given to the player with the highest PwrSpd value)
CF Teddy Burch, MON - He beat out California outfielder Spencer Stephens 37.6 to 37.3 as Burch just keeps on cementing his status as the best player in baseball. In only his third season he's seen his home run totals go from 6 to 13 to now 28, all while stealing 55 or more bases each year. There are whispers in the league that his work ethic is less than stellar, so we can't even imagine what will happen if he matures as he gets older.
2057 winner: 3B Jerry 'Snake Hips' Coleman, IND
2060 winner: RF Ezekiel Wolfson, CHI
2061 winner: CF Stephen Caskey, CAL
All-State Hands Award
(Given to the player with the most total chances and no errors...who doesn't play primarily first base)
CF Garon Norgrove, WAS - After signing a 5-year contract worth a total of $120,001,000 in December of 2061, there was no doubt who was starting in center field for the Bats this past season. All though he struggled at the plate (.251/.297/.421) scouts still believe he still has a lot of room to grow there. One place he didn't struggle was in the field, where in 357 total chances he never had an error. Not bad for a 23 year old who should only continue to get better and better.

Army Ranger Sniper Award
(Given to the catcher with the highest runner thrown out percentage with a minimum of 50 attempts)
C Chandler Frazee, WIL - He had a significant drop from last season, but Frazee once again led the league with a RTO% of 36.4. All in all 107 runners tried to steal a base, and 39 of them went back to the dugout as the camera zoomed in on their pained expressions. One thing he is 100% in would be postseason awards...two full seasons, two DWI's at catcher. The 24 year old has the best arm in the league behind the plate, and thanks to it has already become a fan favorite in Wilmington.

2B Douglas 'Shepherd' Morrison, SEA & LF Evan Yanko, WIL - Both players were 48 for 55 this season when testing opposing pitchers and catchers on the base paths, for a SB% of 87.3. Yanko is the young gun at 26, who's already in his sixth season with the Wildcats and has 226 career swipes. Morrison meanwhile is the old salt at 31, who's been a lifelong Pilot. Known as being the captain of the team, he's swiped 552 bases over his career while playing 1223 games at second base.

Ludacris Award
(Given to the player who got hit with the most pitches)
LF Isaac Pack, PIT - The poor guy got beaned 27 times, or seven more than runner-up Frank 'Slugger' Memmi. He also only hit 13 home runs this season, when he hit 24 and 29 the previous two years. We suppose when you cringe every time the ball is released it's a lot harder to concentrate on hitting it deep.

Broadside of the Barn Award
(Given to the player with the highest strikeouts per plate appearance)
LF Walter Muller, PHI - Muller stepped up to the plate 674 times last season, and walked slowly back to the dugout 269 times after striking out. He did hit 31 home runs, and walked 107 times, but with a 39.9% strikeout rate no one had it worse than poor Walter. His all or nothing, with a walk or two, approach though has endeared him to the fans as he's become a Philly fan favorite.

Swing For Between the Infielders Award
(Given to the player with the most hits but no home runs)
3B Olin 'Chief' Keele, TOR - Poor Albano fell just 10 hits short of the three-peat, as Keele blooped 158 hits to his 149. It was a valiant effort for the 42 year old all-time BLB hit leader, who now has 627 more hits than runner-up Pat 'Melody' Nunes. We seem to have lost our way though, so back to Keele. The 25 year old former first round pick had a down year (.267/.318/.333), but managed to continue his streak of hitting the ball, just not out of the park. The fifth year man has had 3,233 plate appearances in his career, and has two home runs to show for it. He does like to turn it on in the playoffs though, as he's had only 348 plate appearances in the postseason but smacked a home run last year.

Dickey's BBQ Beans Award
(Given to the pitcher who hits the most batters)
P Rice Cochell, SDR & P Zane Hastings, TOR - The 'Bash Brothers' this season each beaned 21 players while putting up pretty equal years. Cochell, who has the best repertoire of pitches in the league, went 14-10 with a 3.77 ERA and 108 ERA+. Hastings meanwhile went 15-10 with a 3.00 ERA and 108 ERA+. Personality wise they couldn't differ more though. Cochell is said to "stand in the corner in a crowded bar", while Hastings is described as "strident". Weather an introvert or extrovert, they both have come to realize that nothing helps them out on the mound like a little sweet chin music every now and then.

The Milton Swingline Stapler Award
(The player who earned a check without deserving one)
1B R.J. McCarthy - We called it last year that we may have a repeat winner, and McCarthy came through for us. R.J. made a whopping $18,000,000 last season, and never played one inning in the BLB. He ended up playing 17 games in AA, and six games in AAA, before Batavia finally released him in August. He actually signed a minor league contract with Wilmington, but was released five days later. McCarthy ended up putting in his retirement paperwork in November as the 3x All-Star called it a career, one in which he earned...got paid...a hefty total sum of $124 million.
