The Lager beat up on the poor Ale this week as New Orleans went 6-0, Toronto and Wilmington went 5-2, and Dallas and Montreal went 4-3. Some other big weeks were Hartford and Baltimore who went 6-1, while California, Denver, and Carolina all went 5-2. With all that winning there was some losing as Santo Domingo went 0-7, Seattle went 1-6, and Indy and Washington went 1-5. The Rum Runners have lost nine straight and are doing everything they can to catch Hartford and Philly for 1.1 next season.

Performance of the Week
P Rich Mount - The 25 year old came over from Hartford in June and has continued his success with the Canadians. This past week he tossed a complete game that featured three hits, one run, one walk, and 13 strikeouts as Toronto won 7-1. He's now 12-5 with a 3.48 ERA on the year, and is 7-3 with a 3.20 ERA since coming over from the Whalers. Originally from Tyler, Texas, the rose capital of Texas, Mount went to high school at Southlake Carroll before being drafted in the third round by Hartford in 2053.
Prospect of the Week
C Kyler Schuff - The power hitting catcher looks like he could be another offensive threat entering the league in next years draft. He's a 2x NCAA All-Star who's hit .296/.363/.522 with 23 HR and 86 RBI in three seasons, while also throwing out 60.3% of opposing batters. Scouts think he has the "potential to to impact the big leagues" and at 6'4 and 240 lbs we agree.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Maine now posts a ridiculous +12 PYT after going 4-3 last week and building a six game lead in the Ale. They have a run differential of -21, while being 20-12 in one-run games. In the Domestic they are seventh in average, stolen bases, and runs scored, while being 10th in hits. They are still first in home runs though, which apparently must come at only crucial points in the game for them. Pitching wise they aren't any better as they are ninth in ERA, 10th in home runs allowed, and 11th in bullpen ERA. To end up 19 games over .500 with stats like that is something out of a computer simulation.
2. Forty year old Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano now has 4,038 hits as he's in the midst of a 17 game hitting streak, third longest in the Domestic this season. If he reaches 20 games, it will be the 12th time in his career he's had a streak of 20 or more. Second all-time is 38 year old Dane Jennings, who is at five. Albano is hitting .325 this season, Jennings is hitting .324. Neither have talked about retiring, but why should they since they've shown no signs of slowing down.
3. Looking over some of the financials it appears the Bats are still the hot draw in town, even for a team that hasn't won the title since 2055. We know...shocking. Revenue wise though Washington leads all with a $138m take, followed by Dallas at $133m, and Seattle at $132m. The Bats are also first in gate revenue at $25m, while New York and Toronto are at $23m. As for putting fans in the seats though Montreal squeaked by Washington by the slim margin of 2,570,192 to 2,542,210. To be fair though Montreal has had three more home games, so technically the Bats win there too. Apparently going to the playoffs 69 out of 83 years and winning 12 titles creates quite a following.
4. Rob Detling has had quite the 'resurgence' in Los Angeles after spending his first seven season with the Cyclones. We say that almost in jest because while with NYC he hit .283/.339/.465 with a 123 OPS+ during his time there, while being a 2x All-Star. In two season in LA though he's been named to the All-Star team both times, and is crushing it with a slash line of .282/.352/.544 with an OPS+ of 153. He hit 44 home runs last season, a career high, and is on pace to hit 46 this season. He currently leads the BLB in that catagory and at 28 years old appears to in the prime of his career. He's also signed relatively cheap the next two seasons at $20.5 and $19.5m.
5. What's on tap? This week we get to see a bunch of division first and second place teams square off as Maine goes to Pawtucket, New Orleans heads to Montreal, and Baltimore travels to New York. The Guides lead their division by six games, Montreal by four games, and Baltimore by one game. This will be the second to last series match-ups between them all this regular season. We also get to see some Wild Card shuffling as California hosts Windy City then heads across country to Washington. The Blues are 5-1 against the Kodiaks this season, while California is all even at 4-4 against Washington. Streak wise SDR has lost nine straight, New Orleans has won six straight, and Seattle has lost five straight.
