What a week of have and have nots as the Domestic and Import got it on. In the 5-1 column we have New York, Montreal, Santo Domingo, Syracuse, New Orleans and Toronto. And speaking of those Voodoo, the curse is over. There will be no second half collapse this season as they are hot and back in the top spot in the Power Rankings. In the have nots we have Batavia, Indy, Hartford, Denver, California and Los Angeles. Some team leaders: Toronto scored 44 runs (LAD 10), New York smashed 11 home runs (CAL/LAD 1), and Baltimore swiped 15 bases (LAD/DEN 2). On the pitching side Toronto allowed only 11 runs (BAT 42), while opponents hit .190 off Montreal (BAT .343).

Performance of the Week
P Seth 'Slick' Faber - The 23 year old was the second overall pick of the 2055 draft and is in his first full season with Philly. He's having a horrible year (2-11, 6.29 ERA), but he shows flashes of brilliance. This past week was one of them when on September 3rd against Indy he went nine innings, allowed two hits, no runs, struck out seven and sadly picked up the no decision. It took Indy a two-run home run in 13th to win it, but it shows that Faber can be the dominant pitcher the Freedom hope he can be.
Prospect of the Week
C Andy 'Turk' Christman - The #1 overall prospect in the league smacked three home runs and drove in eight as Kingsville beat up Vancouver 13-1 this past week. Can you really blame the poor Mounties though when half their team is now playing in the majors? Back to Christman though, the first overall pick of last years draft, and the best catching prospect we've seen since Ian 'Pickles' James. This season in 100 games he's hitting .290/.376/.515 with 20 HR, 66 RBI and a +2.0 ZR behind the plate.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Preston 'Cowboy' Capps is still playing baseball at the young age of 40 years old. The 7x All-Star, 2047 Stout Slugger, and two-time BLB champion reached 900 extra-base hits this past week, making him the 62nd player in the history of the league to do so. Drafted second overall by Montreal way back in 2035, he's played for Montreal, LAD, Denver, Santo Domingo, Denver (again), Syracuse, Windy City, Pawtucket, and now Dallas.
2. In the Import it looks like the last playoff spot will belong to California, Carolina, or Phoenix. The Kodiaks hold the advantage with a 50.3% chance, the Roadrunners come in next at 45.1%, and finally the Tobs bring up the rear at 12.1%. Meanwhile in the Domestic it's just between Pittsburgh and Maine. The five teams from the Lager (Wil, SDR, NO, Tor, Dal) are all at 100%. So whoever wins the Ale is in, even though they might end up with a worse record than the Lager's sixth place team, the Exports.
3. No one plays on the road like the Bulldogs. Baltimore is 41-30 away from Hurricane Rice Arena, the best in the league. Five other teams have a winning record away from home, with three of them playing in the Lager in Wilmington, Santo Domingo, and New Orleans. The other two are Washington and Los Angeles. Who doesn't like playing away from home, how about Batavia who is 21-50 when traveling.
4. One thing Baltimore doesn't have is a top 100 prospect. The Bulldogs are the only team in the league with 0 prospect points. Two hundred and two points later we have the first place team, California. Part of the reason Baltimore doesn't have any prospects is because last years first round pick, Joseph Olsen, is having himself quite the rookie campaign in the majors. Over 93 games he's hitting .315 with 7 HR, 40 RBI, and 34 SB, while starting 64 games in center field. Then there is their first round pick from 2056, Justin Castiglioni. He was last years Refreshing New Brew and this year is hitting .267 with 14 HR, 61 RBI, 53 SB, and while playing at a high defensive level in right and center field. Who needs prospect points when your top picks are dominating at the highest level.
5. What's on tap? This week we get Wilmington at Santo Domingo in a battle of Lager, and Domestic, powerhouses. Wilmington holds season series advantage 5-4. We also get to see Toronto at New Orleans in a battle of Lager, and Domestic, powerhouses. Toronto, like Wilmington, leads this series as well 5-4. Streak wise Montreal has won five straight, LAD has lost five straight, Ian Cooley (LAD) has won eight straight decisions, and Jessy Dillon (WIL) hasn't lost in 14 straight starts.
