In the battle between the leagues it was a week to screw up draft position. Playoff eliminated teams Denver and Pittsburgh went 6-0 and 5-1 respectively, while division leaders Syracuse and Washington went 0-6. Some teams are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. One team who did help themselves was Indy, who went 5-1. If the playoffs started today the defending champion Clowns would be in them. Just crazy when a month or two ago they had a less than 5% chance of making the postseason. Stat wise Denver scored 39 runs (PHI 16), Carolina smashed 11 home runs (WAS/NO 1), Baltimore swiped 18 bases (PAW 1), Pittsburgh allowed 13 runs (PAW 43), and Windy City allowed just one home run (PAW 12).

Performance of the Week
P Stephen Gibbs - The only player to crack the top performances this last week, as Gibbs let Maine have it on September 4th during a 6-0 win. Over eight innings he allowed just three hits, no runs, no walks and struck out 11. The Guides never got a runner past first and Gibbs moves to 12-8 on the season. Over 28 starts he now has a 2.90 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 139 ERA+, and 4.6 WAR.
Prospect of the Week
1B Rex Manning - The 22 year old was an 8th round pick in 2055 and has never appeared in the Top Prospect list, but he had quite the season for the Rookie League Scorpions. Over 112 games he hit .298 while smacking 44 home runs and driving in 113 runs, both league highs. Last season he finished second in the RL Pilsner Outstanding Hitter Award, it's probably safe to say he won't be runner-up again this year.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. It's not often two division leaders are in the midst of nine game losing streaks, but that is where we are for Syracuse and Washington. The Snappers lost three each to Wilmington, Denver, and Carolina, and the Bats lost three each to Seattle, Hartford, and Indy. Both are still favored to win their respective divisions, but they are making it interesting as Syracuse only leads Indy by 3.5 games, while Washington leads Baltimore by just 1.5 games. Stat wise during the streaks the Bats have been outscored 46-22 as they've hit .194 while putting up a 5.40 ERA. Meanwhile Syracuse has been outscored 63-27 as they've hit .266 while posting a 6.67 ERA.
2. It's also not often when the three top teams in the league by record are in the same division...but welcome to the 2057 Lager ladies and gentlemen. Dallas and Montreal are tired at 85-54, while Santo Domingo is 84-55. The only other 80 win team in the league is Phoenix at 83-56. To put how lopsided the Domestic is, third place SDR would have a 10 game lead if they were in the Ale, and fourth place Wilmington would have a 3.5 game lead. Or how about Dallas with the +148 run differential, while Syracuse comes in at +4. To sum it up the Lager is the Ale's 'Daddy' this season.
3. Might as well go all in on the Lager as Santo Domingo's Damon Casebier hit the 3rd cycle of the BLB season, while Dallas second basemen Vin Edwards recorded his 2500th career hit, placing him 57th all-time in that category. For the 24 year old Casebier he hit a solo-shot off Jeremy Vanover in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and tripled in the 8th. The first overall pick of the 2053 draft helped the Exports win the 2044 championship, while taking home four DWI's at third and being named a two-time All-Star during his career.
4. The minor league playoffs all begin this week as the future stars of the BLB get to test their mettle in the postseason. The top team in the league was California's RL team the Austin Rustlers, who went 87-33. They won the Porter West, and were an amazing 70 games ahead of the Belle River Bombers who were 17-103. The next best records were in A ball, as the Rockville Redhawks (LAD) went 84-36, followed by the Eugene Sting (WAS) who went 81-39. Meanwhile the top WAR belonged to Toronto's Keon Pryor who finished the year with a 7.8. Drafted 12th overall in last seasons draft, he might be the most well rounded fielder the game has ever seen. He can play any infield or outfield position at a DWI level, while also being able to hit the ball and steal bases. At only 21 years old we can hardly wait to watch this kid grow up. On another note...how good is Toronto going to be in a few seasons?
5. What's on tap? This week we get to see Washington at New York (Cyclones lead season series 5-4), Indy at Montreal (can the Clowns continue their ride to the postseason) and Seattle at Carolina (Tobs +10 games over .500 since Aug 1). Streak wise Tyson Velez (SEA) has an 18 game hitting streak, Lambert Howard (DEN) has scored in nine straight games, and Hudson Bell (MON) hasn't lost in 12 straight starts.
