Phoenix and New Orleans are the cream of the crop as they both put together some nice 6-1 weeks. The Roadrunners now lead the Bock by a game with a 26-19 record, while the Voodoo have the best record in the league at 32-15 and lead the Lager by two games. Other nice weeks were Baltimore who went 5-1 (and lead the Stout), and Hartford, Washington, Montreal, and Wilmington who all went 5-2. On the other side of life Batavia went 0-7. The Muckdogs have now lost seven straight and are 1-9 over their last 10. Mama said there would be week(s) like this.

Performance of the Week
P Stephen Gibbs - The Bulldogs are the best late drafting team in the league as Gibbs was a 4th round pick in 2047 out of Huntington Beach HS (if this looks familiar it's because we used the same opening line from the last DK). This is his third year as a starter for the Bulldogs, and last week against California he threw a gem of a game. Over eight innings he allowed only two hits, no runs, one walk, and struck out 15. He's now 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 149 ERA+ in nine starts.
Prospect of the Week
3B Mervin Teremesha - Discovered out of Swaziland last month by California scouts, Teremesha is as raw as they come but he has potential for days. Scouts believe he's a Parker Lee type of player, but at only 16* years old he has a long way to go. The DK dug deep for any sort of birth certificate but officially no records could be located. Considering he's 6'3 with a mustache that would make a 50 year old biker jealous, questions are going to be asked.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Hats off to a couple old timers this past week as on May 26th Charlie Guevin recorded his 500th save and Dawson Lamb recorded his 200th career victory. Guevin was a first round pick in 2040 by Pawtucket, where he became a 7x All-Star and helped be the anchor for the Patriots two championships in 2051 and 2054. He became a free agent and signed with California in 2055 before being traded to Seattle last season. He is now the 11th player in league history to have 500 saves or more. Lamb meanwhile was a fourth round pick in 2039 by Toronto. He was traded to Miami six months later and won double digit games with Dallas from 2042 to 2048. He was traded to Pawtucket, opted out that off-season, and was signed by New Orleans. Since then he has played for New York and now Syracuse. There are 39 players in the history of the league with 200 wins or more.
2. Johnathon 'El' Dorado was the seventh overall pick of the 2044 draft by the Los Angeles Dinos and his future looked bright. For six full seasons he was a full time starter, and from 2046 to 2050 he won 64 games and helped LAD win back to back titles in 2048-2049. After going 7-14 in 2051, and starting 5-8 in 2052, Dorado was traded to Toronto where he finished off the year going 1-7. He became a free agent and signed with Denver in 2053. He played three seasons with the Bulls before heading to Philly on a one year deal. He's now back in Toronto on another one year deal where he is currently 0-7 with a 4.47 ERA and 92 ERA+. At only 33 years old it appears his best days are behind him. It also appears he dislikes pitching for Toronto where he is now 1-14 with a 4.41 ERA.
3. Montreal is on top of the System Rankings as scouted by the OSA as their 179 prospect points lead second place Windy City by 20. They hit big on pitcher Jake Stewart, who was a fourth round pick in 2052, and is currently the #2 overall prospect in the league. They also hit on three 1.3 picks in CF Teddy Burch (2056), 2B Zechariah Norkus (2052) and 3B Henry 'The Artist' Miller (2053). With the first overall pick of the upcoming draft look for the Exports to really pad that lead as many predict high school catcher Andy 'Turk' Christman to be their choice. The 17 year old hit .387/.466/.732 with 59 HRs and 164 RBIs in 160 total high school games and is loved by scouts around the league.
4. Well Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano has now hit safely in 24 straight games, giving him 11 times over his career he's had a hit streak of 20 games or more. The 36 year old has seven such streaks more than second place, and has achieved the feat in 2046, 2048, 2049 (twice), 2050, 2051, 2052, 2053 (twice), 2056 and now 2057. Originally signed by the Miami Sharks in 2037 he was traded to Pawtucket for Randolph Martinez and a first round pick. Albano's career stats: 2209 games, .338 average, 3137 hits, 701 doubles, 110 triples, 285 stolen bases, 11 All-Star appearances, 8 Designated Driver's, and 3 DWI's. Martinez career stats: 63 games, five wins, seven losses, and a 3.99 ERA.
5. What's on tap? This week we get to see some division foes who haven't played each other yet. First place Phoenix takes on second place Seattle in the Bock, Indianapolis travels to Pawtucket, and Pittsburgh travels to Hartford. We also get to see some good league match-ups as Washington heads to Seattle for the first time, and Baltimore and LAD meet up in California. Streak wise New Orleans has won six straight, Baltimore has won five straight, and Phoenix and Wilmington have won four straight.
