Well apparently the season started and no one told us! We were still celebrating the Indianapolis Clowns winning the 2056 Brewmasters Cup, and we turn around and it's almost May...of 2057. As we check in we find that the Clowns are 9-11, the Drillers are 10-10, the Bats are 10-10, Carolina is 8-11, and California is 9-11. What in the world? Meanwhile the Wildcats go 6-1 last week, and under new management they find themselves at the top of the Power Rankings. Albeit 'new' in this case happens to be the most successful general manager in league history, so we expect nothing less. Other great weeks were Seattle who went 6-0, and Pittsburgh who went 6-1. The Pilots lead the Bock by four games, while the Millers lead the Ale by four games. On the flip side Philly and Syracuse both went 0-6, as the poor Snappers have lost nine straight games.

Performance of the Week
LF Joseph Brandon - With chants of "Let's Go..." well never mind, the first round pick from 2049 tied the best hitting performance of the young season on April 26th against Philly. In five at bats he tallied up four hits, hit two home runs, and drove in seven as Seattle won 11-2. On the season he's now hitting .370 with 2 HRs, 16 RBIs, and a 155 OPS+.
Prospect of the Week
C Andy 'Turk' Christman - Scouts project him to be quite possibly the best offensive catcher of all-time, which is a tall order for a 17 year old who has already been dubbed "The Chosen One". In four season at Woodstock HS he played in all 160 games while hitting .387/.466/.732 with 59 HRs and 164 RBIs. He also threw out 45% of the runners that tried to steal on him. His work ethic and intelligence is raved about by coaches, and many scouts project him to be the top pick in the upcoming draft.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Well Shan Waseem is back, and in a big way. After being traded to Baltimore in the off-season from rival Washington, he broke his wrist in spring training and missed over a month. The Baltimore front office wasn't happy after signing him to a $76,000,000 extension, but in his first week back he more than made up for it. In seven games he hit .391/.483/.739 with 2 HRs and 10 RBIs as the Bulldogs went 5-2. The 28 year old was a scouting discovery out of baseball hotbed Tunisia, and played for the Bats from 2052 to 2056. During that time he won three titles and was a two time All-Star.
2. He only generated a game score of 87, but Bats pitcher Cole Socia threw the first no-hitter of the season on April 26th against Los Angeles. Over the nine innings he walked six but also struck out six as Washington won 3-0. The 37 year old won back to back titles with Los Angeles in 2048 and 2049, and was an All-Star in 2047, 2050, and 2055, but this is his first career no-hitter. He was a second round pick by LAD in 2040, and over his career he is 154-144 with a 3.87 ERA and 101 ERA+.
3. The Millers can't pitch as they are 12th in the Domestic in runs allowed and hits allowed, but they sure can hit. With 204 hits, 117 runs, and 29 home runs they are second in hits, and first in runs and home runs. Last years Stout Slugger Devin Welninski is hitting .359 and is on pace for 73 home runs, while first basemen Zac Arellanes is hitting .449 and has a 28 game hitting streak going. The only pitcher worth anything is former first round pick Colin Holden. He is now 4-0 with a 1.71 ERA and 236 ERA+, but unless he starts pitching every other day Pittsburgh better hope they can continue to smash the ball.
4. New York is 13-7 and tied with Baltimore for the Stout lead. They also have the #1 farm system in the league with eight players in the Top 100, and five of them in the top forty. Twenty-two year old Alex Landrum is ranked second and currently their top pitcher in the bigs, and after going 4-1 with a 2.35 ERA to finish the 2056 season, he's now 3-1 with a 2.86 ERA to start this year off. Throw in 24 year old rookie starter Oscar Dudzik, who was a 9th round pick, and the Cyclones have a chance to be really good. With 20 year old Alexander Charter (10th) looking like a future all-star center fielder, and 23 year old Jim 'Barber' Mjima (33rd) already smashing the ball in AAA we're excited for New York's future.
5. What's on tap? We get two fun match-ups this week as Wilmington (13-6) travels to New Orleans (13-7), and Baltimore (13-7) heads over to New York (13-7). Are the Wildcats for real? Are the Cyclones for real? We also get a few 'mids' battling it out as LAD (10-10) goes to Batavia (10-10), and California (9-11) flies to Windy City (9-11). Streak wise Wilmington and Seattle have won six straight, Pittsburgh and Santo Domingo have won five straight, Syracuse has lost nine straight, and Toronto has lost six straight.
