The New Orleans Voodoo turn in the big week down the stretch as they go 5-1 to move to 80-72 on the season. They are now third in the Lager and have given themselves a 91% chance of making the playoffs according to our friends at Stats+. The Dinos and Millers also had great weeks by going 5-2. The Dinos are a lock to make the Import Wild Card, while Pittsburgh is tied with Hartford and Wilmington for the third and fourth Wild Card spots in the Domestic. On the flip side those Whalers went 1-5 and were joined by Montreal and New York. The Exports and Cyclones are playing for next season, but Hartford is hoping for a big turnaround this upcoming week.

Performance of the Week
P Jeremy Jackson - The 23 year old for Washington was a 10th round pick in 2050, so of course he turned into a top prospect who's gone 8-1 with a 3.34 ERA for the Bats this season! On September 19th though against Batavia he turned in the 13th best performance of the season. He got the start, his 12th of the season and he went 7.1 innings, gave up no runs, no hits, and struck out 11. The Bats won 8-0 and the rest of the league groaned.
Prospect of the Week
2B Howell 'Big Stud' Blanchet - The 16 year old was just discovered by scouts out of Saint-Leu, Reunion, and debuts as the 95th overall prospect in the league. Those same scouts believe he can be an "elite big league second baseman", but considering he won't have to shave for a few years he has a long way to go. Currently he's housed in the Canadians International Complex, but we're excited to see how things turn out. The only other 'Big Stud' in league history happened to be Hall of Fame member Kokoro Fujii, so he's in good company there.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. What a week for two current legends as Colby 'Mirror' Hullinger launched his 500th home run, and Preston 'Cowboy' Capps recorded his 3000th hit. The 39 year old Hullinger and 38 year old Capps have combined for 17 All-Star appearances and 5 Stout Sluggers. Hullinger is the 19th player in league history to reach 500 home runs, while Capps is the 18th player to reach 3000 hits. Reportedly the Hall of Fame is already working on their busts.
2. Santo Domingo and Washington have clinched their divisions and earned a first round bye. Seattle has a seven game lead over LAD and clinched a playoff spot. Then there is the Ale. Wilmington is first at 80-73. They currently have a half game lead on Pittsburgh and Hartford. The Whalers play Indy, Montreal, and Maine. Pittsburgh plays Pawtucket, Wilmington, and Syracuse. Indy plays Hartford, Toronto, and Pawtucket. The good thing for all of them is that they have over an 80% chance of making the playoffs.
3. Charlie Spence is now 20-4 with a 2.48 ERA and 354 strike outs. He's six K's away from tying the single season record that he set last season, and we wonder if Carolina will give him a shot. The Tobs are currently the top seed in the Import Wild Card, but only by one game over the Bulldogs. Do they throw the future Pale Ale winner or rest him for the postseason? Hard to believe this guy was picked 10th overall by Maine in 2047, traded to Philly in 2048, and then traded to Carolina two short months later. He's now the premier pitcher in the league at only 26 years old, and could go down as one of the greatest in history.
4. You might not know Darvin Moton, but he has quite the streak going. The Dinos lefty was a second round pick by New Orleans in 2040, and only played for the Voodoo for one season in 2046. He went back to the minors and was claimed by Batavia in 2049. Moton pitched in 18 games that season before becoming a free agent. Los Angeles then scooped him up in 2053 on a minor league contract. Moton made it back to the majors in 2054, and has started an amazing 74 games for them in 2055 and 2056 combined. He's also now gone 54 starts without a loss. That seems impossible, but when you are an opener anything can happen. In 2056 Moton has started 39 games, and appeared in 54 total, but has only pitched a total of 29.1 innings.
5. What's on tap? As we talked about, Indy at Hartford is going to be a big one. The Whalers are 6-3 against the Clowns this season, and now is the time to get going and off their five game slide. We also get to see a huge four game series featuring Wilmington at Pittsburgh. The Wildcats have had a second half run where they are +14 since August 1st. They are also 6-1 against the Millers this season. Finally we get to see the last Seattle at Washington of the regular season. The Pilots had that huge four game sweep a month ago against the Bats, and are 5-2 against them this season.
