It was All-Star week, which meant that everyone only played three games and then the players got the rest of the week to rest. With only the Home Run Derby and the Futures game in the second half of the week, well we don't have a lot of movement in the ELO or Power Rankings. California and Montreal were the only perfect teams this past week, with Phoenix and Toronto being their victims. Some team leaders: Hartford scored 24 runs (Phi 2), Pittsburgh hit 6 home runs (Paw/Mai/Mon 0), and Washington allowed only 2 runs (Pitt 24).

Performance of the Week
P Kentavious Saldana - The 31 year old was a bargain for Washington back in 2047 when they signed him for a cool $2.5m a year out of Chili. He's won double digit games every year since 2049 and he's now 94-58 with a 3.68 ERA lifetime for the Bats. This past week on July 12th against Philly he pitched a five hit shutout with just one walk and 13 K's. It's his third shutout of the season and sixth of his career.
Prospect of the Week
RF Jared Rosewall - The 20 year old earned Brewers League Baseball Futures Game MVP honors this past week when he smacked a home run in his one at bat for the game. Ranked the 85th overall prospect in the league he dominated A ball this season (.303, 14 HR, 53 RBI) before being called up to AA a few weeks ago. Drafted ninth overall in 2053, scouts think he has power plus potential and could be a key member of a contending team.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. All though the game is no longer played, congrats to some first time All-Stars this past week. Starting in the Domestic we have SP Karcher Amezcua (SYR), RP Logan Meier (MAI), CL Bobby Ferguson (SDR), CL Trevon Pearson (PAW), C Lucas Shultz (SYR), 3B Ja'Quan McLaren (DAL), OF Damon Casebier (SDR), OF Rodrick Madhubuti (PAW), OF Neil Wanat (WIL), OF Raymond Dixon (WIL), and OF Tom Holderness (IND). In the Import there was C Ahmed Brigatti (NYC), C Elmer Nelson (LAD), 1B Josh Frost (PHI), 1B Idris Wnuk (WC), OF Colton Pearce (DEN), OF Andy Wulfeck (LAD), OF Reginald Botoman (PHO), and OF Val Schmit (CAR).
2. First time All-Star and BLB home run leader Rodrick Madhubuti is currently on pace to hit 51 home runs for the season. If he reaches that the 27 year old would be the first player to reach 50 since Hall of Fame member JD 'Hurricane' Rice did it back in 2045, when he hit 50 on the dot. From 2035 to 2043 it was accomplished 13 times, and at least once every season. From 2044 to present it was just accomplished the one time previously mentioned. It seems the power hitters are being dominated by the power pitchers these days.
3. Records that have a shot being broken this year are once again Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa's triple record of 22 set in 2029, and Christian Vines strikeout record of 342 set in 2046. The players who have those shots are Toronto's Dennis Daley (14 triples), and Carolina's Charlie Spence (201 K's). Last season Spence got close with 332, but didn't get that last start that he needed for the record. With Carolina currently at 44-50, their playoff chances might come down to the last week of the season and they won't be holding him back this time around. Meanwhile for Daley he's on pace to play 152 games, which would be his most ever. His previous high for triples was 19 in 2050, and that was over 135 total games.
4. Speaking of Carolina, how about we talk a little about the best player in the game (at least offensively). That player is Evan Turner, who is looking to have the first hitting triple crown since 2043, when Dominique Graham did it for the Snappers. That season Graham hit .341 with 46 HRs and 122 RBIs, taking home the Stout Slugger and Designated Driver as well. This season Turner is hitting .346 with 22 HRs and 63 RBIs to date. In the Import he's first in average, first in RBIs and third in home runs. Only teammate Val Schmit and Kodiaks slugger Julian Irwin have more at 24 each. He's considered the top player in baseball, is a 3x All-Star, and was the Brewmasters Cup MVP last season (even in a losing effort). Did we mention he's only 21 years young?
5. What's on tap? This week we are back to a full slate of games, and looking forward to more than a few match-ups. Syracuse at Dallas (Drillers 34-15 at home), California at Windy City (#2 and #4 in the IL wildcard only separated by 3 games), and Maine at New Orleans (Guides are +18 since May 1st). Streak wise California has a five game winning streak, Toronto has a five game losing streak, Big John McIntyre (DAL) has a 14 game hitting streak, and Jeremy Thrasher (MAI) hasn't lost in 15 straight starts.
