The Dinos go shooting up the Power Rankings (#1) and the ELO rankings (+17.1) as they pull off the beautiful unicorn with sweeps of Philly and Windy City to go 7-0. They have won eight straight and are only a game out of first in the Bock. Other big weeks were Dallas and Phoenix...yes those pesky Roadrunners...who each went 6-1. The not so good week was the ugly unicorn had by the defending champs. Poor Pawtucket went 0-7 as they got swept by Dallas and Indy. They are now the only team in the Ale with a losing record and have brought shame to the best division in baseball (based on last years champion). The other not so good week...how about who Pawtucket beat in the Brew last season, the Carolina Tobs. They went 1-6 and are now 12 games under .500 while sitting sadly in fourth place for the Stout.

Performance of the Week
RF John McIntyre - 'Big John' as he's called around the organization pummeled Pawtucket yesterday to complete the three-game sweep. In five at bats he racked up four hits, two home runs, drove in four, and scored four times in a 12-2 victory. It was good enough for the fourth best batting performance of the season. Originally drafted by California in 2043, he was traded to Philly a month later. Over the course of seven seasons there he was a 3x All-Star and 2050 Stout Slugger. McIntyre was then traded to Baltimore late last season before becoming a free agent a few months later. On Christmas Eve he signed a 3-year deal with Dallas worth $13.5m and he's been holding down right field ever since.
Prospect of the Week
P Joe Ferebee - The fourth round draft pick in 2049 was never a top prospect until November of last year, when he debuted at #37. He moved up to #30 at the start of this season, and then he unveiled his new curveball a few weeks ago and blew everyone away. In the latest OSA update he's all the way up to #3 and scouts think he has the "makings of a future ace." Currently the 23 year old is pitching in AAA and it looks like Maine found a good one.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Not only is LAD playing out of its mind lately, but Kenny West is leading the charge as he has a case of the 'Jett Spears'...at least at the plate. Always an amazing fielder, West this season is hitting .352/.414/.479 all while on pace to put up a 9.5 WAR. His previous high is 5.1 in 2052 when he hit .299 and swiped 98 bases. He's a 2x All-Star, won the DWI last season at third, and helped lead LAD to the 2049 title, their second straight. This past week alone he swiped seven bases, giving him a league leading 34 on the season. The fan favorite around the league not only puts the butts in the seats, he entertains them with his amazing play as well.
2. Congrats to Melchior Werth who got his 2000th career hit on May 22nd against Seattle. In the bottom of the fourth he hit an RBI triple, and later scored on a double during the 5-2 victory. Drafted sixth overall in 2037 by the then New York Knights, this is his 14th season with the now Cyclones. He is a 6x All-Star, 6x Designated Driver, and won the Stout Slugger in 2046 and 2048. Also congrats to Snappers infielder Shawn St. John who hit his first career home run. The 33 year old went undrafted out of high school in 2039 and signed with UCLA. His scholarship was pulled and he was fortunate enough to get signed by Toronto a few months later. Since then he's played in 1,134 minor league games, and 82 BLB games. He had brief stints with Seattle in 2047 and 2050 before being released in 2052. He was signed by Syracuse in 2053 and played in 42 games last season while hitting .179 with 11 RBIs and 3 SBs. This year he's played in 23 games and is hitting .175, but he got his first career home run on May 20th against Montreal when he took an 0-2 fastball over the outfield fence.
3. In breaking news out of Pittsburgh it appears that 3x Pale Ale pitcher Theodore Blume is on the move, to the Millers division rival Pawtucket. Blume is currently 1-6 with a 5.11 ERA, and both GM's agreed a change of scenery was for the best. Drafted seventh overall in 2043, Blume has gone to two All-Star games as well but never led Pittsburgh to a title. In even more breaking news Millers centerfielder Gavin Tucker is also on the move, this time to Baltimore. The 3x DWI winner in center was set to become a free agent after the season and the organization balked at his demands. Good luck to Blume and Tucker as they look to make a big impact on their new organizations.
4. If the playoffs started today these teams that made them in 2054 would not be making them in 2055: Pawtucket, Wilmington, Carolina, and Denver. With Pittsburgh trading two of their best players it could be a changing of the guard come October in the BLB. Of course when you are only 27% of the way through the season it might a little premature to talk about the playoffs, but things have certainly been topsy-turvy as of late.
5. What's on tap? This week our match-ups of the week are New York at Washington, Seattle at California, and Indy at Maine. The Cyclones are trying to turn the corner and get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2050. Considering they still have the top minor league system in the league it appears they are ahead of schedule. With Washington and California on the schedule this week though it will be a good barometer. Maine meanwhile is righting their ship after last years first to worst turnaround. They won 93 games in 2053 and captured the Ale. Then they won 65 games in 2054 and came in last. Now they are 25-20 and in second place. Can they keep it up?
